@occasionalrain wrote:So you overwhelm the oatmeal with add ons. Mary Poppins?
@occasionalrainNo, that list is just what's in the bag. I just put a little on top. I usually skip the chocolate. That mix is heavy on the dried cherries, so that and some nuts. Butter, sugar, & milk are standard add-ins.

Love oatmeal either Quaker or the store brand, quick oats. Put it in the microwave for 90 seconds. Add dried cranberries, ground cinnamon and a bit of 1/2 and 1/2. Have it at least twice a week.

I eat oatmeal every other day in the morning. It's relatively inexpensive.
I have applesauce on top with cinnamon, and I add dired cherries and cranberries to the oatmeal. I add a spread and some sugar free maple syrup as well. Sometimes a banana or sugar free jam instead of syrup.

I make my own granola with Bob's Red Mill extra thick oats. Love it as cereal and on top of yogurt. Just made a batch.
4 cups oats
1 cup pecans
1/2 cup pumpkin seeds
2 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp salt
1/2 cup coconut oil (liquid from microwave)
1/2 cup maple syrup
1 tsp. vanilla
Stir together and put on sheet pan . Bake at 350 for 30 minutes. Let cool completely.
I make sure the pecans are not around the edges because they sometimes burn.

I have oatmeal 2-3 times a week, either as breakfast or my evening snack. I get an instant oatmeal from my wellness program. No sugar. No additives. I make mine with water and I add a little cinnamon, a touch of honey. I put fruit on top. Usually berries but sometimes banana slices. I neverijed it when I was a kid. I love it now .

When I was a kid my mom served it with milk and brown sugar. Now I have it with walnuts and fruit.

DH and I eat steel cut oats we cook every week in the rice cooker. We mix it with sugar free or plain yogurt, wild blueberries and Ceylon cinnamon. I don't eat it every day, but DH does.

We like McCann's Irish oatmeal. We used to make it cooking on the stove but have sinced moved onto the instant packages. We eat it a couple times a week, I like to add cinnamon on top and DH adds his dried fruits like raisins or cranberries. It is very good for you.........once we were in Ireland at a hotel having breakfast so I went to get myself a bowl of oatmeal out of the big pot they had at the buffet, next to it was a bowl of whisky with a ladle, LOL! You bet I tried it, was the best oatmeal ever ![]()
