Re: Now let us talk about the DMV

My longest wait & weirdest DMV experience:

I'd gone there w/ my niece who needed to transfer a new license from one state to another & had to show proof of residence, etc..

We got there at about 11:30 a.m., & the place was packed. We finally managed to get seats, then sat & sat & waited for hours.

It blew my mind that out of 9 or 10 windows, only 2 were open! What?

Time crawled, and we were shocked that they were still admitting people, even as it neared the 5 p.m. closing time.

HOW would they ever manage to handle the hoards that were already there + more?

I actually started to feel badly for the employees, wondering how late they must have to stay every day.

Imagine our shock when at the stroke of 5 & the doors closed, DMV employees suddenly appeared at every window, and that place was cleared out in minutes.

OMG.

I decided then & there that if I ever had to go to the DMV again, I'd show up 15 minutes before closing time!

Muddling through...

Re: Now let us talk about the DMV

Last summer my sister went to schedule an appt for her son to take his drivers test.  The wait was eight months.  They told her she could go to one in another town.  It was an hour away and they had a three month wait.  That was in CT.  Here in WI, I can go in and out in ten minutes.
