One of the younger partners in the CPA firm I worked for nicknamed me "Cool Breeze." I guess I could have sued them, but that wasn't done in those days. It was finally shortened to "CB," which stuck because they were my initials anyway.

Hi, Preds. Qute, now that's qute. Not so much standing for Queen, I think maybe the spelling of odd? Those little devils. Well, we'll pretend it's for Queen of Everything. To heck with the boys.
I asked my husband why they called me that & of course you know the answer, I don't know. I guess saying Suzie Q is too long? Better than being referred to as a B huh? Now there I reign as Queen!

It's a fraternity/military/government type of thing . . . everyone has a nickname. The same boss I referred to a post or two ago had a nickname for everyone in his life, including his children, and the the nicknames weren't just a shortening of their full names.

Aha! So your name begins with a C - and ends with "ine", perhaps?

I have no nickname and never called my children by nicknames. My parents called me by my full first name and I call my children and grandchildren by their full first names. However, my husbands family is odd to me because they call people in their family names that they didn't even name them! Just an example; if someones name is Charlie they call them Bob. The names they call them have nothing to do with their name! They do this to my husbands siblings, nieces, cousins etc but they do not do it to my husband, but everyone else they do and I find that weird. I can see shortening a name if the name is Robert, that would be Bob but why call them a totally different name? lol.

My friends call me ""LG"". That nic started in high school and it remained through college and still now. I've always thought it was cute.

We have nicknames in my family and I love them! They show affection.
At work, I'm called by the first letter of my last name. I have a long last name and my boss started calling me that for short. Love that one too.

Right about the "C," wrong about the "ine." You would never be able to guess my name, it's extremely unusual.

My parents never called me a nickname. The only difference I saw was if they were perturbed with me the emphasis would be on the second syllable and the voice would drop. Some of my friends either called me Diane or Diana, but only my closest friend occasionally called me Di. I always wanted to have a name that could be shortened and was cute. One of my friends was Victoria, and she was called Vicki. Another one was Judith, and she was called Judy. I wanted that. Boo hoo. I got over it.
