New tip location

[ Edited ]

I was at the Farmer's Market yesterday. Sitting in front of the cash register was a cup with a sign that said TIPS. I select the vegetables, bag them and stand in line to pay. He weighs it and collects my money. IMHO not a tipping situation.

In my experience, farmer's market and elsewhere, tipping cups are everywhere. Nothing new.

Tell him : " Here's how this works ... You weighed and took my money , so I'll give you a tip . I picked out , bagged and stood in lie ,so you give me a tip . Bottom line , we're even , buddy !"

Is the person you're paying just a worker there or a farmer that grew the vegetables?  If they are just a worker or owner there probably most of what you pay goes back to the person that grew the vegetables.  My guess is they don't make very much.

I tip at my Farmers Market, I appreciate that my favorites travel to 1 location so I don't have to travel to multiple locations to get what I want....that saves me time & money.

@D Kay Is that a reason to tip?  Are all jobs now obligated to pay a lot?  How do you factor in lots of things to equalize pay?  Do we pay for need or for a job done?

Tips are ridiculous.
Go get a job, collect a paycheck and shut the door.
This generation is absolutely relentless is self pity, self help, self this and self that.
Oh Lord help me not go on a tangent 😂

No need to tip, it is optional and some people may choose to do so.
