@Tabbycat wrote:Hi @Happiness Is Inside JOB .... this may be a stupid question, but do you have to have caller ID with this phone you got at HSN?
WE have a land line and it costs us almost $43 a month and that's with local calling only, NO LONG DISTANCE. It's BS!
We're not phone people, but can't always count on getting a signal on our tracfones. DH says he will not pay AT&T for additional caller ID fee. We have an answering machine. The calls begin exactly at 8:15 every morning, then the second one at 8:50am and they go all day....never leaving a message. TIA
Yes
The phone has a lot of GREAT features. I am very pleased with the item.

I was getting at least 5 calls a day from a 910 area code on my business phone. While I hated answering because I was sure it was a robo call, it was my business line and had to answer. They asked for someone and I politely told them they had the wrong number.
Finally, I did a reverse search and come to find out it was a collection agency. So, one day another call came in and I was not in the best of moods. I answered and sure enough same spiel. I went batsh*t crazy on this person. Haven't heard from them since. Guess they think if I went that nuts, there must be no one there by that name, lol.
So annoying to say the least.

The weirdest one for me was when I was talking on my cell phone and my landline started ringing with the number showing as MY LANDLINE number!!!! I have no idea how that happened and I joked with my friend I was talking to that "it was coming from inside the house!" I don't have a clue how that connected and didn't ring as busy or something.

@speedy girl : No, it showed up as private caller which, of course, I usually never respond to. My daughter said the officer that called her showed up as police department and my son in law got the ambulance call. I’m not sure how they did it so quickly but every response was immediate and wonderful and we owe much of that to technology. Responders said they are all equipped with several phones and computers. Needless to say I’m doing lots of cookie, cakes, pie baking and writing lots of notes stained with teardrops.
If you and yours are not updated on your phones emergency contacts please do so NOW it makes a difference when time is of the essence. As it happened, my granddaughter’s phone (and, no, she was not on it for once) was smashed but our info was obtained from her car tag, college and toll stickers. Never dreamed this redundant info could factor in saving your life (plus, of course, your seat belt). Well, kiddos, I’ve gone on much too long but I appreciate you listening it’s true sometimes sharing is caring.

My family has listened to my rants about robo calls. I've contacted my Congressman, you name it.
A few months ago my daughter gave me a Consumer Reports magazine. The entire magazine is devoted to ...... wait for it....."ROBO calls".
Yepper, the ins and outs of robo calls. I keep it in the bathroom and read a few sentences (bathroom is a good place to read about robo calls) then I get so frustrated, it's sickening.
The bottom line is not much can be done unless Congress starts putting some plugs in this never-ending problem.
I've always wondered who in the name of Heaven actually buys anything from these calls? Even if one wanted to buy something....it's nothing but a recording.
I used to answer and spout out some (let's call them 'choice' words) (even I was surprised I knew those words...Ha).
But now they're all recordings. Good grief! I've turned off my answering machine totally so the thing rings a few times and then jjust stops.
I've blocked and blocked and I've gotten calls as identified as my own phone number (the magazine explained about how they do that....so much info in that magazine).
Knowing how easy it is for advertisers to call my number just makes me even more angry.
In this day and age it's like a normal person has no voice. No one seems to care what we (the taxpayers) want or don't want....what we do or don't care about....
And so on and son scoobie scoobie do (sorry couldn't resist) Phew! I'm about to blow as gasket...this subect really bothers me.....phew....I think I'm better now.....![]()
