New Target Membership Programs

[ Edited ]

Target is changing its memberships and credit cards, probably to compete with Walmart+.

Half price window for paid membership ($49 instead of $99) is April 7 to May 18.

See Target website. Lots of small print.

I like the Target Circle offers with my Red Card,  but I don't know if I'm willing to pay for a membership.

Re: New Target Membership Programs

@deeva   I just don't spend enough money with Target to pay for a membership.   Costco is the only membership I pay,  and if they hadn't finally put in a gas station just a couple of years ago, I would cancel that one.  It only pays for itself because their gas tends to cost significantly less than anything else in the neighborhood.

I know memberships benefit many families, especially any that own part or all of their own businesses, but that's not me.

No doubt this will be a money maker.  Just starting to feel excluded and cheap for not being a "member".  The day they set entrance requirements might be looming?

It's a pass for me.  I live 4 miles from Target and I really never order anything online from them.

I'll continue to use the circle offers with my own form of payment. Works fine for me. I would not pay a subscription to shop at Target.

I don't buy enough at Target for any kind of membership to make sense.  Well, the red circle thing is free, so I have that.

While others may disagree, I think it's ridiculous for stores to charge memberships to people who want to buy things in their stores.

Offering special discounts, YES.  Charging for memberships, NO.

Maybe. I need to know more. I shop both online and in person at Target.

Re: New Target Membership Programs

I do have a Walmart+ account but that is only because I get 10 cent discount on gas; over the first year I did save enough to make the membership worth it.

Unless Target is planning to partner with a gas station not sure how their membership would be worth it.

It's like Costco or Sam's Club.  We do a lot of our shopping at Target, so it would make sense for us to have a membership.  If you're not a frequent shopper, not so much.
