@DottieBlue wrote:The same old double standard--Camilla is always labeled the "homewrecker" but I've never seen that term aimed at Charles. He is just as guilty, if not more so, because he is the more powerful of the two. Camilla certainly didn't hold a gun to his head to make him have an affair with her. Camilla broke up HER home, and Charles broke up HIS. If Camilla broke up Charles' home, then Charles broke up Camilla's.
@DottieBlue and @Love my grandkids - Actually I've read over the years that Camilla's husband Andrew was OK with her "affair." He also took lovers.
I think the royal family might have expected Diana to "suck it up" and go with the status quo. Charles wouldn't have cared. But she wanted love - who would have thought?
IMO the whole situation is mostly Camilla's and Charles' faults. Charles wanted to marry Camilla, but thought he wasn't ready. Did he ask her to wait? Who knows? William did a similar thing with Kate, but SHE waited. Camilla's father and brother forced Andrew Parker Bowles' hand when they announced Camilla's engagement to him to a member of the press. If she was truly in love with Charles she would have never married Andrew.
Later on Camilla befriended Diana, and at first Diana didn't know. But she did find out right before she married Charles. Apparently, according to her sister, she briefly thought about backing out. But things were already in motion and she thought she couldn't. She might have thought, like so many other brides, he would eventually fall for her. IMO he did try. But there was just nothing there. And he turned away and into Camilla's arms.
Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip were not fond of Camilla and wouldn't attend their wedding. But after a while they came around. Most people expected Camilla to be "Princess Consort," but before she died Queen Elizabeth made it clear she wanted Camilla to be "Queen Consort." And so she is.
I read that after Diana died Camilla made herself scarce for a while. She says she spent a lot of time reading.
I can see how she would not be a humble person. And Charles has given her anything she wants. I can see how she would not treat Kate well.
I am not a Camilla fan.

If the stories are true she better be careful going up against Camilla. Charles got rid of one beloved Princess of Wales. As king he can make the Prince and Princess of Wales lives pretty miserable.
Kate Middleton is her name, and the other is her official title. Even People magazine refers to her by her name.
Now that Charles' mother is dead, it's definitely the end of an era. I think he's in for a bumpy ride. He deserves it.

I absolutely hope that this "gossip and rumor" turns out to be true.
A royal cat fight will reinvigorate my interest in this forlorn family and be oh, so entertaining. I have always loved to see the royals at play.

Well --- Charles always wanted Camilla -- always -- and the story goes, he never stopped seeing her even when he was seeing and then married Diana. Camilla now has what she wants -- in essence -- to be Queen! I never could stand her. I am not a fan of Charles either. Poor Kate -- having to deal with her!

and just why should we even care? Useless questionable "news".

How long has it been? A month or two? Adjustment takes time, more for some than others.
Besides, I really don't care about squabbles among the elite.

You should have searched for a more reliable source then @beckyb1012 . You passed up a good juicy gossip story because you don't know how to do an qualitative search for information?
No it was because it was the weekend and the only thing I do then is unwind and not pay attention to the news even the weird kind. My family, faith and not to mention my mental health and stress level is more important than the Harkles or any part of the RF.

As the head of the Church of England, which frowns upon divorce, the Queen did not attend the civil ceremony held at Windsor Guildhall in an effort to uphold the church's values. The Queen and her husband came along for the blessing afterwards, and publicly congratulated the couple before the marriage. They also held a reception for Charles and Camilla at Windsor Castle, which welcomed more than 700 guests.
