Just purchased a Whirlpool refrigerator.

Seems to be working well, with one exception.

The ice cream in the freezer will not get hard.

The temperatures are reading well and everything else in the freezer is frozen solid.

Re: New Refrigerator Problem

Could you try turning the temperature down colder for the freezer just to see if it does get colder?

Re: New Refrigerator Problem

Is the ice cream close to the freezer door.  If so, try putting it closer to the back.

Re: New Refrigerator Problem

Is freezer a separate control?  Turn it to lower temperature.  Other items can't get "over frozen."  Or try another flavor of ice cream, perhaps its just the one you have now.

Re: New Refrigerator Problem

That happens in my freezer if I leave it too close to the front and have too much packed in around it.

Re: New Refrigerator Problem

Get a thermometer that shows down to zero degrees faranheit or whatever it is in centigrade and put it in the freezer. They make these for refrigerators, and ovens, etc. Test the temperature in various spots in the freezer. If it is not freezing to 0 degrees faranheit, call the company and get someone out to look at it. And sometimes, it takes a few days for a new fridge to cool down to very very cold.

Make sure that the air or whatever vents in the freezer aren't blocked by your frozen foods.

From experience many years ago with a brand new fridge.  I called CS and they asked me to check to see if the vents were blocked, which they were.

After moving various frozen items away from the vents, everything froze fine.

'More or less', 'Right or wrong', 'In general', and 'Just thinking out loud ' (as usual).

Re: New Refrigerator Problem

As long as the ice cream stays solid, even tho not rock hard, it's fine.   My new (2 months old) Whirlpool refrigerator does not freeze my ice cream rock hard.

Re: New Refrigerator Problem

Contact your appliance vendor where the item was purchased.  Over the years, we have been fortunate to have a local dealership with hard-working, honest owners who always want the customer to be satisfied.  Unfortunately for us, they are soon to retire and leave the business.  Hopefully you have honest vendors who will work with you to fix your issue.  Whirlpool has a reputation as a good brand.  They still manufacture in the USA.
