Re: New Generations Not Using Top Sheets on the Bed????

My thought?  Is this some kind of joke?  Do you have too much free time on your hands?  Do you really care?  Does anyone really care?

Re: New Generations Not Using Top Sheets on the Bed????

I never heard this and I can't think why?  I love the feeling of the top sheet, especially because I use microfiber sheets and it feels so soft and cool.  I think the top sheet also protects the blankets also from body moisture and grime.  I can't think of a single reason not to use a top sheet.

Like you, we all have differing opinions on different subjects.  It was not posted as a joke and, apparently 130 people/replies on this thread cared enough about the subject to post their views.  As far as free time, it took just as much of 'your' free time to add your opinion/thought as it did others to add theirs.

Re: New Generations Not Using Top Sheets on the Bed????

Wow! this thread makes me feel good!

Since I got Brody, making a 'normal' bed did not acommodate us.  He sleeps with me, and having such a thick coat of fur, the top sheet and blanket just got in the way.  So, bottom sheet only along with a couple of throws (for me) and a half dozen pillows. No bedspread 'cause Brody often hops onto the bed during the day to relax and cool off (ceiling fan).

It works for us!Woman Happy

@hkrgrl @Lucky Charm Why is it yucky, or skeevy to you? Just curious, because I don't use a top sheet, and my quilt gets washed as often as my sheets.

Re: New Generations Not Using Top Sheets on the Bed????

I have used a top sheet my entire life. I honestly did not know that sleeping without a top sheet was a thing for some. To each their own. However I did a little research on what happens when we sleep. Bodies do strange things during sleep. Some I will not list. Did you know that most everyone sweats during sleep? Maybe not enough to cause bed clothes and linens to be damp but some moisture is released.  Our bodies shed at least 300,000 dead skin cells each night during sleep. This build up of moisture and dead skin cells is a feast for pests like dust mites and other insects.  The recommendation is to wash bed linens at least once per weak. So I would think that sleeping without a top sheet and covering up with a quilt or throw would necessitate that these items be washed weekly also.

Re: New Generations Not Using Top Sheets on the Bed????

I posted earlier about being in favor of using a top sheet.  I'm surprised at how many are adverse to it because of getting tangled up in it.  My top sheets are always tucked in between the mattress and the box spring, with "quasi-hospital corners".  Even though I often turn from side to side during the night, it doesn't seem to be enough for me to get tangled in my top sheet.

Same here. I turn from side to side at night and I have never gotten tangled up in my top sheet.

@Cakers3

I enjoyed reading your list and only disagree with one of your observations which is boomers.

What I've seen many times on these forums is that it's always the younger generation who are called uneducated, rude, lazy, snowflakes, etc., and are sure to be the downfall of civilization.

But the boomers (you know, the ones who raised the younger generation) are never, ever at fault for anything. I always find it funny. Smiley Very Happy
