@sunshine45 Now see, this is a prime example about how it's all about choices and personal comfort. I cannot stand microfiber sheets. To me, they're never crisp or cool compared to percale. I had two sets and donated both of them.

Agree. Couldn't return the microfiber sheets fast enough. So hot!

Interesting ..... Unless I missed it, I think you're the first to point out that the bottom sheets would get dirtier than the top sheets. I currently own about 6 good-quality bottom sheets plus many sets of pillowcases, and I change them in a timely manner.

I'm guessing the salespeople you mentioned (regarding "new" generations) were in sales for linens and home goods? I'm a little surprised they weren't aware that not using a top sheet goes back many, many generations.

People have different preferences ... for just about everything.

I enjoyed reading your list and only disagree with one of your observations which is boomers.

What I've seen many times on these forums is that it's always the younger generation who are called uneducated, rude, lazy, snowflakes, etc., and are sure to be the downfall of civilization.

But the boomers (you know, the ones who raised the younger generation) are never, ever at fault for anything. I always find it funny.

Certainly there have been many posters blaming boomers for all the problems with the youth of today.

A a boomer I disagree considering boomers technically did not raise the current youth since our generation started in 1946.

Fault with younger boomers is subjective. Too many societal variables to lay blame on one generation.

From the beginning of environment awareness, civil rights, Viet Nam, women's rights including health rights, gay rights etc. many boomers were instrumental in change. It wasn't all s*x, drugs, and rock 'n roll for everyone.

There are many, many younger people who are bright, inquisitive, seeing the needs of others, etc. Just as older people still do.

The lack of thank you notes, for example, are hardly a major issue.🙄

@hkrgrl @Lucky Charm Why is it yucky, or skeevy to you? Just curious, because I don't use a top sheet, and my quilt gets washed as often as my sheets.

Lots of things skeeve me out. lol

Clean bedroom, bedding is something I can control.

Always-- at the very least-- a quick shower and jammies before getting in bed. I'd never re-wear something from the night before.

I'd never flip a mattress (feet end to head of bed--gaaaah).

No pets in bed (or bedroom).

I switch out pillowcases during the week, if I feel the need. Clean sheets weekly. What we use year round for blankets are lightweight cotton and wash just as easily.

I'm not dissing anyone for their bedding habits. Believe me I know mine are probably considered unreasonable. Just the way I am!

I think sleeping against a cotton, washable duvet is fine, and it would be cozy. No fighting the bottom sheet midweek. However, I use top sheet because I wouldn't want to take that tightly buttoned duvet off every week to wash like I do sheets. As I said, I use 100% supima or Egyptian cotton sheets by Sferra. My duvet is high thread count, supima cotton as well. Like two sheets sewn together. I may just bite the bullet and do it , cause lately by husband rips that top sheet all over and I am grabbing on to all night

I use a top sheet and fitted bottom sheet. I like the feel of cotton sheets over and under me. I've been buying northern nights for years. They last forever. I don't like the feel of a comforter/ quilt directly on top of me. And I can't sleep without being snuggled in cover. I need the weight of it on me to sleep.

Whilst we are in this area, one of the best bed's I've ever been in, was at Disney World in Fla. We stayed at one of thier lodges (so to speak) Big white fluffy bedspread and it was like a cloud!!
