For years, Pat has often said, "that's the beauty of it" over and over, about as often as Mary Beth repetitiously says, "here's the thing".

Yesterday I heard Lori Goldstein and today Susan Grave say, "that's the beauty of it".  I hope the hosts aren't going to start using this expression ad nauseum as they tend to do.  I guess it's better than Lori being constantly obsessed or Jane Treacy loving Fri-yay.

What used to set my teeth on edge was Lisa Mason and "gals".

Re: New Buzz Words

[ Edited ]

I wouldn't be mad if I never heard any of them say they were "obsessed with...." again. Not only is it just repeated too much, it's overused in the sense that nothing they refer to seems that special, since, for instance Lori...is "obSESSSed" wth everything.

Same with "elevates..."...although, every time I hear them use that, I do wonder what we'd replace it with..."brings it up a notch?" "gives this a more sophisticated look", gives this "casual tee a more polished look", whatever..."elevate" has been used to death.

"Here's the thing." Yeah, I see that. You're trying to sell me that thing right there. And? What's next? "Coming up next, here's another thing."

I don't care for it when someone says "Here's the thing," in a conversation. It's like they're dismissing everything I just said and they're letting me know how it really is. Just kind of offputting.

At least the newer buzz words are better than 'fu fu, chi chi'; 'love, love, love' or 'ladies who lunch.'

I give the hosts lots of credit though. It's not always easy to talk about the same item for long stretches of time. The most difficult, it seems to me, is when an entire show only promotes a single item.

Maybe instead of complaining about all the hosts, we could come up with some new expressions and help them out.Smiley Happy
