My dogs were so freaked out by the noise, I had to put their thundercoats on them, TV on and they were still shaking.
Here they start on Memorial weekend and go through the whole summer. These aren't just small firecrackers, these are loud.
I feel bad for the veterans suffering PTSD and hearing this noise as well as animals. It also really disturbs nesting birds.
Wish they would just ban them and have the experts do it.

My take on this incredible increase and and duration of non-public firewords is that in too many cases it's not really done for the "beauty" of them but rather more of an expression of belligerant thumbing of the laws and maybe even a little bit of releasing rage.

Well that's odd your city cant do anything...is there a State law or something prohibiting fireworks from being banned??? Our city issued an ordinance long ago banning them and always around New Years Eve and the 4th of July there were so many calls to the Police that they even created a separate Police Task Force and "hot line" to report firework violations....and let me tell you, according to the local news reports that line is very very popular....
The purchase, and/or transport or use of fireworks without an appropriate license or permit is illegal within the San Antonio city limits. Considered a Class C misdemeanor in the eyes of law, and can carry a fine of up to $2,000. Section 2154.251(a)(1), (2) ...
@Spurt I remember the fireworks rules in Texas being a lot more strick than the loosey-goosey regulations we have here. Even the governor claims she is powerless to ban them due to state law. I think we need to start bombarding our legislators.
My avatar collie came from a professional breeder in Amarillo. She had about 10 dogs that she showed and bred, and had a nice kennel for them at the back of her property.
One year, a neighbor kid was setting off fireworks. One landed on her kennel, catching fire and destroying the building and all the dogs that were inside including several AKC champions. She was, of course, broken hearted and took quite a financial and professional loss.

For all the homegrown fireworks artists. Just remember that many docs in the ER started their job last week.

Last year our idiot neighbors started at 7 pm and finally finished around 3 am. I hate them. One year another neighbor of ours almost burned down their house. As it was they melted their trash can. I finally had to put my noise cancelling headphone on to drown out the noise. Yet all they would have to do is drive a mile down the street to see a fireworks display in a controlled environment. Heck if they didn't want to pay the 5 bucks to get in they could park at any of the numerous restaurants in the area and watch for free. Yet they would rather spend hundreds and take the risk.

That collie is just beautiful, but you just have your shelties now, right?
Start bugging your State legislature....
OMG how HORRIFIC!!!! how HORIBLE!!! how SAD about that incident with that breeder and those dogs!!!! 😭😭😭 Can you imagine how those poor dogs suffered in the fire....ARRRGGHHHHH MAKES ME SO ANGRY! 🤬
I know it wouldnt have brought the dogs back but I hope she got a lawyer and sued the kid/parents and took THEM for a HUGE financial loss!!!! In Texas, a child can be charged in a juvenile court for criminal offenses committed on or after his 10th birthday. These offenses can range anywhere from a class C misdemeanor up to and including capital murder. A person who is at least 10 years old and under the age of 17 can be charged as a juvenile. At 18 they can be charged as an adult. If they were under age 10 the parents could be held liable and charged with negligence of a child especially since fireworks are illegal
and their child caused destruction of someone else's property.....(not only for her buildings, but also the dogs are also considered property under insuraance laws)...Of course, the parents would probably get out of paying the settlement by declaring bankruptcy since those laws are so loosey goosey in Texas for bankruptcy, unfortunately....but at least Id put them through the wringer and drag em into court!

Does it make any difference if the experts do it? If they put on a fireworks show, it's of much greater magnitude and duration, resulting in the same detriment to animals and people, maybe worse.
What 'they' need to do is move to "silent fireworks" or perhaps put on a laser show to music instead of this noise pollution nonsense (and probable harmful smoke created).

My aunt/uncle's house had a cedar shake roof which is highly flammable and every New Years and 4th of July my uncle stood guard with a water hose and watched their house because of all the neighbor's shooting off fireworks and bottle rockets...
People dont even have to pay here....they bring folding chairs and sit at a mall parking lot which is right next to Fiesta Texas Amusement Park and watch the park's fireworks display .....

@Spurt I don't know what the legal outcome of the fire was. I've wondered but to ask a casual acquaintance seemed overly nosy. It makes me sad everytime I think about it since they were my dog's relatives.
I now have two rescues, a mini Aussie and a mutt.

@riley1 : My DH is retired military with PTSD. I installed better windows, wood blinds and roll down thick shades, that stops seeing the lights, but not the thunder and shaking of the house. I have DH in a separate bedroom with big Tv, head phones . Live in residential area. We have fireworks going off in front , back and side of house. Some sound like they are in our yard and very close to the house. This happens several times a year. Usually starts a week before and several days after.
