@Biftu that sounds beautiful. I understand how you feel.

I would rather see something I like than some terrible color every time I went outside. What I would do is a stand out front yard that draws people's attention. Although your neighbor would probably copy that.too. Nothing you can do so learn to live with it. It happens all the time.

And I thought this thread was going to be about a house next door painted purple or something....

I understand the frustration. We had our first house painted and had a few things done out front. Well, three neigbors that we could not stand copied our ideas. Not a compliment at all. They had no brains on what to do with a house nor did they have any vision.
Here, at our other home now, some of the neighbors didn't like the ivory color we have painted the house yet others complimented us on it. We don't let that stuff bother us because life is too short.

I'm quite serious.
What those neighbors did was unacceptable, rude, and presumptuous.
I suspect those who have been dismissive of the OP's justified feelings, and mine, indentify with the copycats.

I wish people could start threads here without getting fussed at.........
I often think the same thing. Then people wonder why there is no engagement on the boards or the boards are so boring...conversation killers for sure but I guess that's the point.

Most of the homes in our neighborhood are painted either white or something of a similar neutral color but one of the homes recently sold and the new owners painted the entire house black.
Fortunately it isn't close to our house but I feel sorry for the neighbors who live beside it and those across the street from it. It stands out like a sore thumb and looks like something from the Adams's Family. It's a beautiful home with such a lovely view and I know they paid over $800.00 for it. I can't even imagine what they were thinking painting this lovely home such a hideous color. Even the front door is painted black.
Many people might think that a white house is lacking in imagination but I'm very happy with ours. It's simple and it looks very appropriate in our neighborhood.

A gray house with black shutters and a burgundy door is not unique where I live.
It is a popular choice and has been for years. There is even a house in my neighborhood with those colors and it has been that color since 1988 when our neighborhood was built.
Adding: I discussed this color combo with my husband. We actually have five houses in our development with these paint colors and one more that recently painted their black shutters white.
Two of the houses are side by side. One a two story and one a bi-level, but the same color on both.
