Neighbor’s House Paint

My new next door neighbors are painting their house the EXACT same color as mine. When I had my house painted I made sure the color was different than others in my neighborhood. I understand it's their house and they can do what they want, but I find it upsetting. Maybe I shouldn't let it bother me but it does.

I would probably take it as a compliment. If I wanted my house to stand out, I would change the color of my front door. My bro has a purple front door and it is eyecatching!

What color is it? If it is a neutral shade, I doubt if it will be noticeable. Perhaps they will trim in a different color.

Shutters and front door and a different roof color could make it look different than yours.

Don't get me wrong. If it is a distinctly different or unusual color, I'd probably be a bit ticked. You know what they say about people copying you.........

Think of it as a compliment. They loved the color of your house so they copied it. You can't do anything about it so don't let it bother you.

@Biftu A lot of people have no imagination. They liked your color choice and used it. I would not be happy either. My next door neighbor painted her house, and I noticed she used color choices very close to ours. The next year she painted again and got the exact match. My husband laughed. I did not. I had spent a lot of time at Sherwin Williams choosing that color scheme.

I do like the suggestion of painting your door. We painted our front door teal and really like it.

My brother and wife once painted their house the color of an avocado ---I mean the inside of it, not the dark green/brown of the outside!!! DSIL chose it!!! In fact she had a sweater that was the EXACT color of an avocado AND the house. We all just shook our heads--this last time my brother did the choosing and it is boring but not bright green!!

I could not tell you the color of my neighbor's home. It really isn't important to me. Maybe your neighbors picked a color and aren't aware that you might take offense?
