Has anyone successfully negotiated a good deal with Dish Network? I have been a customer for over 10 years, not that they care, and my bill just went up $30 a month. I spoke with someone today in the customer retention department but was not happy with the deals they offered. I told them what price I would be happy with and when they couldn't meet that price I said to cancel my account on Dec 3 , I am paid up until then.

How long should it usually take until Dish contacts me with a better price?   I remember when television was free! Of course we only had three channels and I actually had to get up to change the channel.

I've been working on moving away from Dish, so I'm curious as to what you have decided to do.

Unless I get some new information, I am going to bundle my internet and TV with Spectrum ... it's a 12 month rate with no contracts, which is their big selling point ... mo contracts.   Prices jump after 12 months, but it looks like my TV and internet costs will drop approximately $80 a month ... for now.

I have no idea what Sling or streaming is, so am not sure if it's something I would even want.

Let me just say this. Around here, the word is Spectrum trucks (maybe vans) are abundant because people with Spectrum have so much trouble. That's all I know so that's all I'll say.

Funny you should bring up DISH with whom I've never had any trouble. I record my one soap every day-have for years. NOW, when I go to watch my recording it says "free on Demand" instead of "recorded." I also do not stream or any of that stuff, and it says my computer must be attached or something to my tv??? I don't get it and I'm pretty burned up about it.

I have been curious about your dilemma.

So what did you end up doing?  Did you keep Dish or switch to another provider?

Re: Negotiating Dish Network

I negotiated with with DirecTV and got 1/3 of my bill off for a year. I've been doing this for several years. I call the day it expires and talk them into giving me the discount for another year.

So what did you do about Dish TV?   Did you negotiate a better price, keep what you have, or choose another service?

I don't have any problems recording my programs with Dish. Just set the dvr again, so it can record your show.

Re: Negotiating Dish Network

I had DISH and then I moved into my current apt. which is for Seniors.  This apt. building did not take DISH.  Comcast or Direct TV, that's all.  DISH was so rude to me and never picked up the satelitte dish.  What did I know, I thought they would come to pick it up.  I will never forget how rude they were to me and they knew the situation.

I have had satellite dishes from 3 different companies. PrimeStar/DirecTV and Dish. None of them picked up the satellite dish. They all told me to throw it in the trash, and that is what I did.

Because of the hundreds of big trees around our property, and Dish Network putting up new satellites! We have had numerous different dishes installed. All the old ones went out with our trash.

Have had Dish Network for 20 years. I got rid of DirecTV because their Tech Reps were useless to me. I knew more about their equipment than most of their Tech Reps, and that is not good when they couldn't fix a problem.

Dish Network on the other hand has Tech Reps that know their equipment well. Because of my background in TV and Electronics, I can figure out many problems other customers may not be able to do.

I have no idea of how they were rude to you, but I have spoken to many over the years, and never felt like any of them were even close to being rude to me.

Re: Negotiating Dish Network

We had dish and lost a couple of channels I watched the most.  The hateful guy at Dish said to get Hulu and I could watch all my shows there.  I said why should I pay for dish if I now watch mostly hulu.  He was right so we decided to pay to get out of Dish.  We now have At & T streaming.  If not for my husband I would be happy with just Hulu, Netflix and Acorn.  Those would only cost me about $40.00 a month.  I love that if I have watched all I want on one streaming channel I can just drop it very easily and get it back later if I want.  Never ever will I have a contract again.  Plus I love not having all those cords plugged in.  It is so much neater now.

@Katcat1 satellite companies do not pick up their satellites. They tell you to dispose of them yourself. I have Comcast, but I have a DISH and a DirecTv satellite on my roof from previous subscriptions. I'm not going on the roof to take them down, so up they stay.

Re: Negotiating Dish Network

They are all a no win......I have Comcast,  I have had them since 2003 which means I am a long time customer.......I find that they keep removing channels, if I want that channel back I have to buy an entire channel package of say 10 or so channels that I won't ever watch which of course builds up the monthly bill.  For example they took away TCM channel and in order to get it back I have to buy their sports and entertainment pkg.  which is all sports and the TCM channel.  I don't have any interest in sports so I would be paying for an entire pkg and I will only watch one channel that had been free all these years with their basic pkg.
