--- for my SIL who will be turning 80. She's not an "old" 79 year old and I apologize if I offended anyone with that word. Anyway, she's kind of stylish, but not very outgoing.
She'd be very offended if the gift was something for the house or kitchen. She believes a gift is something for her, not the house. I'd like to limit spending at $50. Any good suggestions would be appreciated.

A great book? Nice stationary and pens (hand writing notes is a novelty these days)..... Silk scarf? Donation to her favorite charity in her name? Luxury body creme?

@coffee drinker I enjoy getting jewelry. Perhaps some new stretchy bracelets that are fashionable but easy on and easy off.

Bath products? Gift card for a medi or pedi? I am not a big fan of gift cards but sometimes depending on the recipient it works best.
I have not gotten a birthday gift in several years (this year I turned 67). I have never been comfortable with being gifted, except by my husband. It just gets to hard to try and buy a meaningful gift.
My friends and i decided a few years ago to quit the gift giving tradition, we now go out for dinner and the birthday girl does not pay!

I would treat her to lunch (or brunch). A treat for you and her....time to share with each other.

Three Godiva gourmet coffees. Check out the Godiva website. There are some deals and some goodies there.

Don't give a gc for a mani or pedi unless you *know* she likes that kind of thing. Someone once gave me one and I gave it away as I have no interest in pedicures. Don't waste your money unless you know what she likes.
I agree about an Amaon gift card. So much to choose from there!

@On It This is a wonderful idea. The woman is said to fashionable so this would be perfect. I have to remember this for when I'm stuck on what to gift. Thanks for the inspiration.![]()
There is a line here at Q that is sort of newish with the stretch bracelets. I can't think of the name now. Anyway, on their site, not the Q, they have some nice stretch bracelets that even have 14kt gold and still under $50.
edited because I just remembered![]()
