Need Assistance With Tracking Info

I ordered a cosmetic item here last week because it was offered with free shipping...........received notice 48 hours ago that item shipped.............the tracking number is one I don't recognize at all..........tracking begins with a 74, and is a total of 20 digits............my order detail here says "unfortunately, we have no information on tracking".............I also tried the universal package tracker site, but no luck...........I recognize track numbers for UPS, USPS, FedExHome, FedExSurePost, UPSSurePost, Laser Ship........to best of my knowledge, none of them starts with a 7...........because of free shipping offer, I went with "Best Standard Shipping"..........anyone have experience with this? ........Thank you!

Try highlighting the number, copying, and then paste it in your search engine and hit enter.

Thank you, twopeas, but I tried that with no luck........it's a puzzlement!...........I see on wiki that UPS has a code 72 for Collect on Delivery and a code 78 for a Returns Plus One Pickup Attempt.......neither one applies to my shipment, which starts with a 74 anyway......just weird......http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tracking_number

Re: Need Assistance With Tracking Info

This might be a shot in the dark but I think it's a USPS number that's missing its first 2 digits. In my area it's 92. Place the first 2 digits for your USPS area before the 20 digit string and then into the USPS website tracking field.

Re: Need Assistance With Tracking Info

I've found that "Best Standard Shipping" often means they use a ground carrier like UPS or Fedex first, then that carrier transfers your package to the post office for final delivery eg Surepost.

"Best" in this case actually means "cheapest" {#emotions_dlg.angry}

QVC always use "best standard" when you order multiples and get a discount on the shipping. If you change the default shipping method, you don't get the discounted shipping.

Re: Need Assistance With Tracking Info

Did you get an email from QVC, confirming the item had shipped? If you use the tracking number on the orders page, it has digits missing from the beginning, as ILikeShade said. Usually 90 or 91 or 92. But if you click on the tracking link in the email, that should go straight to the tracking site.

Re: Need Assistance With Tracking Info

Thanks so much ILikeShade and Clover29..........Your explanations make sense.........I doublechecked my Q shipping confirm email and it gives the same track number as the Order Detail page, starting with 74........ then I went directly to usps.com, put a 92 in front of string and got the "unfortunately no info...." message...........THEN went to universal tracker, repeated the exercise, with same result.........HOWEVER, what you both say makes sense to me and I do think the pkg will come USPS so I am no longer worried about it!..........started to think Best Standard Delivery meant My Uncle Luka Will Get There When He Gets There So Hold Your Horses!!!!!!....Lol...I stopped ordering cosmetics from Q years ago coz of ridiculous ship fees.......lesson learned. ...we get what we pay for!.........Thanks again everyone! :-)

Re: Need Assistance With Tracking Info

I have a parcel out for delivery today, that has a tracking number starting with 74.

It's Fedex, doesn't say "smartpost" or whatever their cheap version is, but it's going to be delivered by the post office.

Hope that solves the mystery Smile

Re: Need Assistance With Tracking Info

Hi Clover29!......Thanks ......but my experience was a little different.........I recd the pkg safe and sound straight from USPS with neither FedEx nor UPS as middlemen.........I noticed the small box was designated as "USPS Lightweight Parcel"......that was a new one to me, never saw that before........also noticed the Q invoice itself (not a sticky label) was folded, encased in plastic And used as the label........usually when I see that done its a drop ship item from a manufacturer...... but this pkg came directly from qvc.......lots of weird stuff ha!........happy to get it and all's well that ends well........one thing I don't get is why they give a hyperlink in Order Detail with an incomplete tracking number ?.........very frustrating to be brought to page that announces, "unfortunately there is no tracking information for your pkg." ........just stupid!......give the entire track number, people!....... :-)

Re: Need Assistance With Tracking Info

My package didn't say Fedex on it anywhere, it just had USPS printed on it. But the 74 number did come from the Fedex system.
