You can still honor our country and perform. One doesn't exclude the other.

No one can top Whitney Houston's version, though Jazmine copied at the end in how she sung "brave."

When it comes to the national anthem, I too am a purist. I don’t want an interpretation....leave it to the military to sing it.

I am a purist!   Should never play around with this great Anthem.   Sad that everyone is always trying to update it. I actually get chills when it is performed correctly.

I didn't know who either singer was/is, but their version was fine.

 

Didn't watch the game either.

I thought the anthem at the Super Bowl was outstanding.
