Please make sure you have battery back-up security.

Almost anybody can cut off the power if the electrical box is located outside.

Just a thought.

If true about the mom, this is a very sad

From the beginning , the first call apparently  they may have tracked her via helicopter by her pacemaker . Reportss said there was a delay in response . Days Later  they had that helicopter  trying to pick up the pacemaker signal.  Too many people trampled all through the house  .

I think all that was leaked in search methods and that  involvement by Harvey Levine & TMZ  was a mess.

They might have had sucess if the FBI had just been asked  from the beginning .

Excellent point!!!!!

I watched a show last night. The woman had excellent numerous cameras installed around her house.

And sadly she was killed. That is why she had so many cameras. The killer took down cameras before she killed the woman. BUT the killer didn't take into account the cameras had battery backup.

The killer put a camera in a bag and it was still recording. The camera recorded the killer placing the bloody knife into the same bag.

@manny2   The thing I couldn't understand is that Nancy lived along in a 3,000 s.f. house.  Why wasn't a FULL-TIME care giver (in shifts) employed to make sure she was managing the various conditions she had and if she needed help (like if she fell), she'd be helped immediately?

I understand Nancy might not have wanted any "help" under foot.  That's fine.  The care giver could have been located at the other end of the house with cameras keeping Nancy in view so if she needed help the person would know.  If there was a stranger trying to enter, that person would know and could do something about it.

I know that the sister and her husband had a lot of contact with Nancy.  However, they were gone in the evening/night hours.

The help I'm describing is expensive.  Very expensive.  However, I'm thinking that compared to what the family is suffering from this incident, money would have been "no object" in making sure that Nancy was being cared for 24/7.

Whoever committed this heinous crime picked their victim quite cleverly.  They chose someone who was a relative of a well known person, not the person herself, and someone not famous like a star, politician, etc. which would have generated major publicity but the mother to someone who had plenty of money to pay.  They knew she was elderly and living alone and could probably not fight back.

i think they were surprised the publicity the case produced and things got too hot to follow through with the plan to collect any money.  So sad.

Nancy seemed independent, @pdlinda  and maybe she didn’t want a caretaker. I don’t know. What I do think is the family should have at least had access to the cameras around the home, and something like a life‑alert button she could press if she fell.

I know this is Monday‑morning quarterbacking but let it be a cautionary tale. Get a subscription, set up cameras, and give someone you trust access. Especially if you are elderly, or even if you are single.

@pdlinda -  She wasn't in a condition where she needed a full time caregiver.

As already mentioned, a better security system should have been in place.

Why can't the police reveal the actual ransom notes?  What harm is there in that at this point?  I would rather read them myself than have someone's interpretation of what the notes mean.

I listened to the Interview Room.with Chris and Karen. They went to Tuscon to explore the area. They discovered that there was no way a person could just go to her home and kidnap her..They said you would have had to preplan because the roads leading to her house need to be mapped out plus they needed her address. Also, they said her house was not too far off the road - about 70 feet. Her driveway wasn't that big. They said why not kidnap Annie who was closer?? Nothing made sense.

My question will always be why Nancy?? She was an 84 year old with mobility and health issues. It is heartbreaking to know her life was taken. How do you go on with your life knowing your mother met a violent death. No reconciling that fact.

@elated  -  I agree with what the Interview Room is saying.  This is not a random situation.  This was preplanned.  Someone in their circle.

Yes but would not someone in their "circle" know at least some of Nancy's medical issues.  Even on this board I could name several posters and their physical problems. I do agree it was preplanned but I do not think they knew the family at all.

Nancy has previously been on the Today show. People watching knew a little about her and where she lived. I always thought it was a robbery, she woke up and they had to deal with her. So many theories out there. Don't think we will ever know for sure.
