Re: NO CHRISTMAS AT RADIO CITY THIS YEAR ...

How wonderful our world was before COVID-19 reared its ugly head.  Did we realize the value of all that we enjoyed before this wretched virus destroyed our planet?  Maybe some did but many didn't.

I'm thinking of the joyful, simple pleasures of everyday life that we never thought could be threatened.  Never gave it a thought.  Now we don't know what the world of tomorrow will be and who will remain to experience it.

That the Christmas show at Radio City Music Hall was cancelled is not surprising, but learning this news just makes life even sadder.

Re: NO CHRISTMAS AT RADIO CITY THIS YEAR ...

I was thinking about all this earlier.  Having never seen the Rockettes and probably never would have anyway it was always somehow on my bucket list along with Other things New York at Christmas time.  Have always wanted to do it but realizing I probably never would have but still a dream.  This just makes it worse.

Simple things like calling my daughter and asking her if she wants to come to our house and hang out, I have to think twice about because she and her family work outside the home and we are high risk

You know the saying or song "You don't know what you've got til it's gone" is so true.

Some days I am better at handling all of this, today is not one of them.

All of this makes me so sad

Re: NO CHRISTMAS AT RADIO CITY THIS YEAR ...

I am with you all on these things and more!  DH was just saying to me yesterday -- and he is not one to be depressed or morose ---- I am starting to feel upset and sad --- all the things that we do for the holidays ---- we won't get to do.  Mind you, we don't do fancy things or go to fancy places, but we've always had traditions and done things and gone to places every holiday season.  It's very sad.  We are elderly and have a lot of health issues, so who knows how many years we have left.  He said --- I feel blessed that we have each other and that is the most important thing, but still it's a real kick in the teeth!

This virus thing just goes on and on and I don't think so many people get the seriousness of it, or want to accept that by their actions they are prolonging it even more.  I pray all the time for a truly effective and safe vaccine that will be available to all of us and soon, and also for medications to heal those who are sick with this horrible disease.  Otherwise, there will be no end to this.

It's like a dream to look back a few months ago and remember our world as it was.  How many things we just took for granted because they were always there for us!  It's a wakeup call and I hope people do realize this.

Re: NO CHRISTMAS AT RADIO CITY THIS YEAR ...

It was so heartbreaking for me to hear that yesterday.  I am grateful that we took our girls (and my mother!) to see the Christmas Spectacular last year.  We had been thinking about it for a while and kept putting it off.  So glad we decided to do it when we did.

I live on Long Island we always go into the city during the holiday season.  It's magical and full of wonder for our girls.  We were planning on doing our annual outing again this year, but there is no way we're going into the city with everything going on.  It would be too risky.

Just something else we have to add to the ever-growing list of "can't do."

I hear you all and understand.  There's a number of those things I look forward to, too.

We have our memories, we see what we treasured in our before life and lives.  Now, as we look for the future and how we'll pick up some of those pieces, I for one will see the new value and how we have to create for ourselves a new and different.

I so hope for a better future and to see what we can do to make new and better lives.  We can't pick up the spilt milk, but hopefully, we can do better next time.

I'm trying to be more positive in all this.

That is really sad.  Such a shame.  I am of the thought that this whole virus thing is really changing the world in more ways than we know.  Will education change forever?  Sporting events, concerts and other large social gatherings?  Will everything be done remotely?  No more shopping in malls - only online.

Makes me sad for the world right now.  We are are so divided as it is, not just here in the U.S. but with the rest of the world as well.  Kinda scary.

The world as we knew it is gone.  What the new world will be like is unknown.  Definitely scary.

We took the kids when they were little and they loved it!  I remember as a little girl going to Radio City to see the Rockettes and a movie...way back when!

It's sad...I heard that the Macy's Thanksgiving parade as well as the Mummers' New Year's parade have both been cancelled.

Re: NO CHRISTMAS AT RADIO CITY THIS YEAR ...

I read that they still plan on having a tree, but the skating rink might be closed or limited to few people. They will have to keep crowds away when they light the tree.  I haven't heard about New Year's Eve plans in Time Square.

Countries around the world have cancelled their holiday festivities, also. It's just not affecting the US. Even if some countries have lessened the virus, they are cancelling events to be on the safe side.

Yes indeed. Sometimes I can't believe the things some people post here, then thinking about it so sadly I can. Then I feel even more depressed and walk away.

I weep for the almost 200,000 people and counting in this country who won't see another Christmas. And their loved ones who will be missing them. All so unnecessary.

It is sad.  I saw this show in 2018, and it was wonderful. (I am surprised they did not cancel during WW2, though.)
