@Mindy D thank you for this information. I don't want the N95 masks, I rather have ear loops, I will try to buy KF94 masks. They are so expensive, from about $2.00-$3.00 apiece.

Honestly, if I didn't see threads here about the different masks, I wouldn't give it a second thought.

I watch ALL the news stations and am not seeing any useful information about the proper masks or even to check the CDC website to be more informed.

I'm seeing VIPs on television and it seems they don't know what proper masks to be wearing.  Maybe they should log onto these forums.

So I do have N95s that have all the markings of a true mask referenced on the other thread about proper N95 masks.

I have worn a blue surgical mask over the N95s and the KN95s (that the other thread says my KN95s aren't legit because they are from China and mine are made in the USA).

I feel like we're back in Feb 2020 when everyone was screaming that we were being mis-informed and why aren't they telling us what to do, what to use, what to wear, what to wipe, etc.

And here were are-- almost FEB 2022 and I feel like I'm back at square one.

I guess I'm just going to keep doing what I've been doing and hoping I don't get sick or get anyone else sick unknowingly.

Heaven knows I'm trying my best.

@goldensrbest    According to news from Washington, we may soon be able to get these free.  They are not reusable and are so expensive, I'm going to wait and see what happens.  Not going anywhere to need one anywa

Well ,we will see.

The people who pay no taxes will get them for free, its the people who do pay taxes are the ones paying for them. I've no problem with that but nothing is free, someone is paying for them and thats the taxpayers.

I 'm not sure what to do anymore.

I recently heard that the N95 is the only mask to offer any protection at all.

The others are akin to a chain-link fence (the mask) then throwing marbles (the virus) through it. virtually no protection whatsoever. Might explain why the virus has yet to be stopped, we were all wearing the wrong masks all along!

Not that we'd have been able to get the correct mask anyway! But perhaps more lives might have been saved.

All I'm going to say about this mask thing is that many are taking advantage and getting rich. People are buying into ads too easily.

I saw on a demo about mask efficacy and they showed a person holding a few different kinds of masks under running tap water. The point was to show that if the water ran through the mask, as seen with cloth and the standard blue surgical masks, then those masks won't protect you. The one which held water was the N95 mask.

But here's where I have a beef about that demo...yes, the material which can hold water is going to be the better choice BUT it's the way a mask seals the leaks around the edge of the mask that makes all the difference in the world. Leaks in any kind of mask renders it useless when it comes to keeping you and others safe from infections.

@haddon9

Graduated from West in 1969.  I learned to drive on that Ellisburg Circle!  I am sure I would not recognize it today.  Small world.  I wondered if your nick (Haddon) was a clue.

I have been in Northwest NJ now for 40 years.  Its nothing like Cherry Hill.  Mountainous, more rural,  and much colder winters.  Cherry Hill was a great place to grow up though.  I was the last graduating class at West that was 865 strong.  East had opened in 67 but they let us stay together.  My younger brother went to East.

@Jacie We always were told N95 masks offered the best protection but since the omicron virus is more easily transmittable the N95 masks became more important for protection.  While expensive, N95 masks certainly are available.

It is not true that other masks provide no protection, they do.  Any masks is better than not wearing one at all.  In fact I think more lives were saved because of them and they still do help.

@Biftu Thanks for your feedback, but I think we are on entirely different thought processess. I've little faith, anymore, in the voices of medicine who have been preaching to us for the last couple years. I am over them.
