Guess we have a completely different definition of genuine friendship...

@Nightowlz We take a 'draw' for our pay, we do not pay umemployment taxes.  The states have a program for gig workers, self employed, etc.  but it seems to be the last to be set up and the web site it jammed.  We will eventually get in to the site and pretty sure we will qualify, just not sure when.  We pay ourselves on Mondays, we opted not to this week and keep everything current at work as far as bills.  We have always kept a slush fund for the business but are concerned if it gets to low.

As far as the extra $600.00 for the unemployed I discussed this my my Congressman/federal level.  He said the bill would not have passed with out the additional money being handed out and they were well aware of the fall out but had no choice but to go with it, and business people are seeing the fall out as employess do not want to come back to work.

@Mom2Dogs I'm  so sorry you are dealing with this.  I'm glad your friend got help...but it is really insensitive of her to broadcast her fun and expensive activities when she knows you and your DH and others are in a pinch.

Very insensitive.

We all make life choices, and your choice was to be self-employed and her choice was to be employed by someone else.  There are pros and cons to each choice.

You live paycheck to paycheck ?  You don't have a "rainy day" fund, or other savings to get you through until you can get help from the government?

Would you be able to contact your landlord, utility companies, etc., and ask for help to delay paying until government economic help arrives?

It may look like this other person has it "better" than you, but she may come to regret spending that money on her car.

(I think we all could do with a massage,  I do envy her that!)

@DottieBlue, what about all the big businesses?  Did they not have a rainy day fund?

Around here I see lots small producers for farmer's markets or private sale being hurt too.  A fair number are stay at home moms and the income made a difference.  Off the radar for any help.

We desperately need to put up a new fence but our one neighbor will not help with one cent. They got their stimulus money and bought a bunch of stuff. A couple of months ago my husband asked if they could pay for half the fence and they said they were dead broke. They tie their dog up in the yard so they don't care that the fence is falling down.

Their money, their choice how to spend it.

@Mom2Dogs, I know the website is a nightmare.  I see many complaints on DeWine's FB page.

Have you attempted to get on at a really off hour?  Like maybe 2:00 a.m. or something along those lines?

@Mom2DogsI don't think it's any of your business how your friend spent her money let alone be judgmental about it. Everyone's circumstances are different. I wouldn't want a "friend" who was so resentful of my circumstances.

@Pearlee ...Possibly i could have left out how my friend was spending her money...but that was pretty much the reason for venting....she could have kept it to herself since she knows that our business is pretty much closed...and they way the money has been doled out has been unfair, but we are delaing with the federal government.

@Mom2Dogs, good luck.  I have heard people say that is what it took for them to be able to access the website.
