It's ok to vent.
Real people have real problems.
My vent is not individuals who are getting unemployment benefits.
But rather big businesses who got the bulk of the emergency funds. And now farmers are getting more money. They got money because of the tariffs and now because meat packing plants are shutting down and no demand (or way to get to the needy) for excess produce. Well, there are dentist, hairstylist, opticians, movies, florists, housekeepers, photographers and cafes that also have no demands for their businesses.
And lets give to Airlines who have gouged passengers for decades with fees and add ons. Now they want money with with no requirements.
Many took money and have given it back such as Harvard University, WalMart, LA Lakers, PotBelly.
I think the greed is with big business and not individuals.
Many small businesses could not even get through the system to get any funds. And the process for unemployment claims was jammed. What a mess.

We all make life choices, and your choice was to be self-employed and her choice was to be employed by someone else. There are pros and cons to each choice.
You live paycheck to paycheck ? You don't have a "rainy day" fund, or other savings to get you through until you can get help from the government?
Would you be able to contact your landlord, utility companies, etc., and ask for help to delay paying until government economic help arrives?
It may look like this other person has it "better" than you, but she may come to regret spending that money on her car.
(I think we all could do with a massage, I do envy her that!)

@pigletsmom ..our business relies on mostly industry...the work will trikle down to us as our customers get orders for their goods. I think it will be a long summer.

Can you get unemployment if you are self-employed?
I don't understand why they are handing out another $600 on top of it?
I heard those places opening cannot get employees to come back to work because they are making more money staying at home???
The processing plants were told to open & the workers were told to go to work or they could not collect unemployment?
Hope you get your stimulus soon to help you out.

@Mom2Dogs Vent all you want! That's the best part............get rid of all that frustration! You are not asking about what to do, nor advice. You, just, want to blow off steam! You feel like you are hitting your head against a wall. Better to get it all out, here, then take it out on someone else!
Get a nice big glass of wine or champagne or whatever your drink of choice is, pour one for you and one for your husband. tell a couple of dirty jokes, funny stories to remember that make you laugh until the tears roll down your cheeks, then have another drink a toast yourselves..............you got through, today! Tomorrow's another story or another drink!

It is very frustrating. It was only a week and a half ago that 1099 employees were able to file for unemployment in Ohio.
There have been multiple glitches with other people attempting to get unemployment since day 1, so many haven't rec'd a dime in unemployment yet. This is 6 weeks of no income for some people.
There is no excuse for this IMO.
And then there are others making more money on unemployment than they made while employed.

I am so sorry.
My nephew is on furlough, and my sister reports he is making more money now than when he was working. I am all for being supportive to those that are in need, but come on! They should not be able to make a "profit".
