In the past month I have placed 2 online orders with Walmart and the latest one was last week. I live in a rural area about 26-28 miles from my local Walmart. This last order were a couple heavier items like a bigger bag of dog food. I knew the box would be big.
Saturday I get an update from Fedex that my order was delivered on my front porch. 😳.
Now, you can imagine my reaction to the email as I was home all day. Sunday, I contacted Walmart and they took care of it. CS was great.
I received an email and was ask to complete a survey about my CS experience with Walmart, and I did. In the comments I also explained that it concerned me as to where these orders were left, or what happened to them.
I order online quite a bit, and I have things shipped to my house several times a month by UPS and Fedex. I’m not sure what is going on, but I believe in the end we are the ones who pay for these mistakes. I don’t know what Walmart does beyond taking care of it on my end, but it’s costly for someone. What are your thoughts?

I don't understand the problem?
Was the order not delivered?
If so, and I've had that happen, Walmart was great about replacing the missing items right away and at no cost to me.
I'm not sure any of this was Walmart's issue, but the problem with the carrier or even perhaps taken off your porch after delivered.
But you are very right, the cost of things like this are passed on to customers, companies never eat it, it ends up in the price of items.

This is a problem with online ordering in general (including EBay and Amazon). Frequently I get a text that such and such was delivered (usually it's USPS) and even though it's not a large pkg and I'm home, it's a notice left in my mailbox (about 100 ft from my front door) to pick it up the next day from the Post Office. It is laziness on part of carrier, I'm sure.

If this was a FedEx delivered package, it was probably left at the wrong house. I think the majority of FedEx delivery people are educationally deficient. I couldnt count the number of times this has happened to me.

I happen to hit my orders and found out in the spring 2 orders I never received. Plants and a pendant. Nothing I could do for it said delivered. All my orders said delivered but it usually after dark with no knock or doorbell. Today there was 2boxes and 2packstsages. If my son hadn't called and if he left something here I would never have known the pakages were on the porch for I turned on the light so he could park. Over a $100 lost.

Placing an on-line order with Walmart is at best risky business. Once in a while it arrives on time. Most times it's hit and miss. What you order and what you receive are often not the same thing.
Prices go up constantly. Prices in-store are not the same as on-line. Packaging leaves a lot to be desired as a box with canned goods arrived and just fell apart when lifted.
I thought Walmart would improve on their new venture with time. Time has been given with very little improvement.
I'm very disappointed in Walmart. I do not think they will be in the $35. free delivery too long. Compared to Amazon they will never catch up. The began something they were not up to the challenge.
Lastly, even with changing prices, most everything I check out is still better than Amazon.

The problem was that Fedex sent me a delivery status that the order was delivered and on my front porch. I also explained in my post that Walmart CS was great and took care of it. None of this was a Walmart issue. I didn’t blame Walmart.

I live 30 min. from my local Walmart too and would never have things delivered. I would go to the store, put that big bag of dog food in my cart and bring it home. I live rural also but would much rather shop b&m stores at all times!

My only gripe with Walmart is the number of boxes they will send for one order.
I recently placed an order for 5 items and it was sent in 4 separate boxes.
If they had given it some thought, it could have fit into one box.

I've taken advantage of the Walmart online ordering recently.
I agree that the prices are all over the map. I ordered Craisins for a really good price (less than $2 for 6 boxes) that was a bit cheaper than the supermarket. The next time I went to order them again a few weeks later they wanted $5!
Um, no. My supermarket is a little over $2.
Same thing with peanut butter. You order it once and they want double the price next time. So I've stopped.
I also had an issue with 2 days turning into a week. It was around the hurricane strikes which I was all around but not directly in during the time it should have been delivered. I was a little miffed since I could have just bought the stuff that weekend which I did anyway and just had extra when it eventually did come.
Walmart has some definite kinks to work out.
