Nice try? I'd like to know if you live what you preach, that's all. It's why I also asked if you use wool, it's the same as using molting goose feathers. Neither animal is harmed.
And are you a vegan? Not allowing down doesn't mean much if you are not.

Just a little FYI, it is said it wasn't down we were allergic too, it's that the down used in the past was dirty and carried mites. That's what did us in, the new down is washed and washed and washed to clean, that's why I can use it now with no problems.
But stick with what you like, I'm glad you found a pillow good for you. I can't use any kind of structured pillow.
Thanks for that clarification to what I said, Noel! I had forgotten about that and it clearly explains why I am allergic to some feathers and not others.
Heck, every morning I give the bird tummy kisses and kisses on the top of his head. I don't seem to be allergic to him.

I also wasn't allergic when we had the last cat, although he was an indoor-only cat, so I attributed it to that. I still had to keep him out of my bedroom, but I didn't have the problems I had in the past.

Hi @chickenbutt
That's good news! I used to come up as allergic to cats and I could sure feel it, but then it calmed down after having them for years, now I don't show any allergy.

@cherry wrote:I have heard you can feel the pieces of foam when you use them. I wouldn't use them for that reason. I only use down
I have never felt pieces of foam when I sleep but I have felt the feathers in a down pillow. I know many like down but I feel creepy sleeping on feathers, like there are a bunch of birds or chickens in bed with me. Haha

the my pillow is OK, but I wouldn't recommend them
I have 2sets of them med and firm. I find these pillow just collapse, they do not hold firm, by morning my pillow is flat
i have washed these pillows in a front loader washer and they came out pretty sad shape.

@Moonchilde wrote:It depends on which down companies you buy from, and what the country of origin is. If you spend big bucks to buy US-produced down, live plucking has been outlawed. If you check the company and the sources and purchase wisely, chances are slim to none the down is live-plucked.
Most people, however, would probably just grab cheap, which is China - and then whose statistics/claims does one believe? It happens, but how prevalent it is depends on who you believe (and probably how cheap the product is).

I have read a number of articles that most feathers are harvested from China, even if the pillows are then ultimately made in the USA.
You can look, as the article suggests, at Ikea and Patagonia for two companies who do not use live-plucked feathers.
The point being that not all down is cruelly obtained. If we care enough to investigate we can find cruelty-free down to purchase, and if we refuse to buy *any and all* down it's not because any and all down is obtained through live plucking, it's because we don't want to bother, would prefer to think it's all evil even when it isn't, or don't want to pay what it costs.

There's more info about MyPillow troubles on Consumerist. I'd post a link but I know it will be banished to the corn field.

Wow. Thank you for that read. The creepy last paragraph shocked me. The judgment is only for CA, so CA is the only state where the company can't make the false medical claims and has to remove the NSF connection. The company could, if they chose, keep making those false claims in the other 49 states.

At first I loved My Pillow but now it is causing neck problems for me no matter how I try to adjust the pillow. Tomorrow I will be going out to buy 2 new pillows and My Pillows will go into the trash! Think about it -- he created My Pillow in his garage!!!! ![]()

I bought my pillow and my decision was from the many endorsements on Viewpoints, but it just didn't work out for me. I hated that there were pieces of fiber fill and that you could feel them and hated how the pillow would flatten though he said it wouldn't. I washed it once a week just so it would have loft again. Also, claims that you would never have a stiff neck were not true -. I would constantly get a stiff neck. I ended up throwing them away, just wish I hadn't waited so long to do so.

Forget where I was when I felt the My Pillows that were for sale. However, as I plumped up a pillow, all I felt was a bunch of pieces of stuff.
This was not going to be a comfortable pillow !!! From the postings I just read, I totally agree. DH has a pinched neck nerve and this pillow would land on the floor in no time !
