Poor soul. Tortured is the exact right term for this man. OCD is far worse than many of you here can even imagine.....

Re: My Neighbors Strange Behavior

He sounds very eccentric to me... and he seems harmless. i would just ignore him.

Re: My Neighbors Strange Behavior

I'd bet a nickel he's a hoarder because hoarding is a form of OCD.

Good points about OCD and not being able to work.   He's healthy looking, thin, active.  I wondered if he had severe allergies, but he walks outside and isn't wearing a mask or anything.   I have to laugh that the ammonia or whatever he uses in that spray bottle is probably more toxic to inhale than dust in the driveway.

I bet his vacuum bag is a mess if he's using it outside.    I wonder how he gets rid of the dirt in the vacuum?    That can be a messy undertaking.

I do also want to mention that his garage (it's usually open when he's outside) is also spotless.   He only has his car in there, not boxes, no storage of items.    He does sometimes leave the door open to the garage about an inch, which suprises me as dust will blow in there.

If he has a problem with OCD that is sad it's to that extreme.   But, I keep thinking I wish that was my only worry in life, making sure my driveway was spotless.   The time he takes on that endless project is amazing to me.

*****How do you know that's his only worry in life?  Obviously he's eccentric at the least, neurotic or emotionally disturbed at the worst.  Who knows what happened to him in life to make him this way, or maybe he was born this way.  At any rate, I don't think it's anything to trivialize or judge.  Live and let live, wish him well and get on with your life.

I don't think she's judging. She's just curious because it's out of the norm.

  There's nothing wrong with that.

Re: My Neighbors Strange Behavior

I have a neighbor that can power wash his driveway until after 10pm several times a week.  He also mows the lawn at that time too.  He doesn't work so time management is not the problem.

My heart breaks for these people as it must be exhausting to live like this day in and day out.  I can tell when pressure is getting to me because I get more than a little OCD but I am lucky that I recognize it and find ways to combat it.

Sharke, the almost exact same thing happened to me and my cousin when we were walking down the road in a country town, not developed at all. I think I was only about 10. This guy in a truck pulls up to us, opens the passenger door of his car, and his pants were down past his knees. We were scared and took off running back to her house. We were visiting and my dad was there and he took off after him and confronted him. I'm not exactly sure what happened with this guy and my dad, we were never told, but needless to say, my cousin and I were shocked and scared. 😳

All I can say with my dad being an ex-Marine, I'm sure the guy didn't make out well. 😀

Yep, bet your Dad took care of business. That's what I say these sickos are every where now days. They're sick from what's been done to them and they want to pass it on.

One time when I was about 11, I was walking to town with a friend. This car pulls up beside us and the guy says, "Hey, do you wanna ____?"

I wasn't sure what he meant but I knew I didn't want to!
