My Neighbors Strange Behavior

I have a neighbor down my street who is probably in his 40's, single, lives alone.    I never see company at his house ever.

He doesn't work because he's home all the time, so perhaps he's very wealthy.

I think he must have OCD because every morning at 5:00am, he's outside in his driveway vacuuming the dust off the cement.   He doesn't use a leaf blower, he uses a vacuum.    Then, he takes a spray bottle of what looks like Windex or some other solution and scrubs the cement and the rocks that divide his driveway and his next door neighbor.

This goes on daily.    He never puts out his garbage can on garbage day, he walks over to the strip shopping center next to our complex and throws his garbage away there.  I see this on  my daily  morning walks. He's out there every morning.   In front of his home is a lovely tree that has the prettiest blossoms.   Well, on the side that faces his house, he gets on a ladder and picks off the blossoms so that side of the tree is stark bare.    I assume he does that so they don't fall in his driveway. I have also seen him using the spray bottle on the tree leaves.  Perhaps they are too dirty too?????

He isn't very friendly.   I said hello a few times and he was courteous, but not very outgoing.   When I walk by, it's just so bizarre to watch him go after every speck of dust that might have gone on his driveway overnight.   I have to say, he has a spotless driveway.

The one ironic thing is, he seems to always wear the same clothes every day.   Either he has a stash of the same pants and tops, or he's not as picky about his attire as he is about the cleanliness of his driveway.

I just can't help but think as I walk by that if that is his only issue in his life, he's a lucky man.    Now, I wish he'd come to my house and clean it!

I can only imagine how spotless his house must be inside.

It's just the way he goes after the driveway.  He's obsessed with it.   I can only imagine on a rainy, windy day, he must stare outside and cringe that the driveway is getting wet and dirty.

My guess would be that he's a hoarder.

He maintains the outside so no one will guess the inside is a rat's nest.

If he wears the same clothes every day, I would suspect he's hoarding and just doesn't want attention so he keeps the outside spotless as a disguise.

How long does he spend "cleaning" the driveway?

I think his sister lives across the street from me.

I start my walk around 5:15 am., and he's out there when I leave the house.   I walk an hour and he's still out there when I get back.   I also notice when he drives home from somewhere (in his spotless car), he's out there cleaning the driveway.   Probably from the dirt tracked in on the tires.

I think he can't function unless that driveway is spotless.

He does wear the same clothes, but they aren't dirty.  They are clean and pressed every day.

Are there any skunks or outside/feral cats in your neighborhood?

No.   It's a quiet neighborhood.

People do walk by with their dogs on leashes, but they don't dirty the driveway.
