This is truly lovely and thank you for posting this!

I was just thinking about this. There are women that made choices about their babies and I know that they think about them on this day.

So nice to see you and your post again !!!
Short story: Growing up my parents did the best they could but their attention ( thank Heaven ! ) was directed at my younger twin sisters. I excelled at school because that was where my support was...ironic because there I was Italian in an all-Irish school at a time when small town ethnicity was rampant !
Anyway last Winter when my best friend from college was visiting in FL, as she and I were reminiscing about growing up, she happened to say " I never understood why your parents were so cold to you. "
I never gave it a thought until then but she was right. Knowing nothing else, I thought it was normal.
Last summer I lost a close nun friend who had read different documents I wrote and submitted to my college for various projects. She knew more about me than anyone besides my favorite aunt...
When I said I really never understood families when I was in college and got to know how my friends lived, she totally understood. Grace prevented me from becoming a bitter person.
Mothers come in all sizes, shapes, relationships by blood or friendship. I am thankful to have had a precious few in my life.
My niece's email this AM attests to my being like a Mother to her.

I'm not a mother due to health issues when I was just into my 20s. It's something I always wanted to be, even ahead of wanting to be a fairy princess! It's difficult for me but I try to remember that everything has a reason and I believe my story was written way before I came along. I think the most difficult thing would be to lose a child, so I try to think of things that would be worse than never having one at all. Wishing a very happy day to all the mothers.

I would give just about anything to have my Mother here for just one more hour. She is missed.

Thank you so much for your post. My mother is passed and my only daughter just passed on April 2nd at 48 years old. It is a sad day for me but your post helps others understand that it is not happy for everyone. Thank you for helping make other understand.

@udc - So very sorry for your recent loss of your daughter. May happy memories of your mom and daughter comfort you today.

@SandySparkles - thank you for this beautiful, touching post. So true it is not a happy day for everyone.
Definitely a sad day for me. I lost my mom on Mother's Day 1977. It's been a lifetime without her and no matter how much time passes, it doesn't get easier.
