There is no shame in being mentally ill or alcoholic. You should be proud of yourself for overcoming these challenges, for they are some of the hardest illnesses to treat. Kudos to you for your strength and honesty.

Not post with you any more? Ridiculous. It doesn't matter one whit who or what a person is off the boards; it is who or what they are here that determines my impressions of a poster. I may not agree with some of your postings but I've not yet seen anything that would make me think I shouldn't bother posting with you and your OP today doesn't change that one bit.

<br />Kalypso can speak for herself.
So you would prefer that Sylvia, continued to feel badly about what she had written? How strange considering you appear to post in friendship with Sylvia.
There are far too many arguments and hurt feelings here because things are taken out of context.
I apologize to no one because I responded and your trying to control me from posting is futile. You are not the Webmaster.

This tends to be somewhat of a touchy topic with me as I lost two relatives to a drunk driver. This happened when I was 2 so I never knew, or have any memory of, them. However, everyone has struggles and weaknesses and, as others have said, I admire those who can recognize and admit them and work to overcome them. You have done exactly that so you have a lot to be proud of and are now able to help others in need. That's a HUGE accomplishment.
As for the comment that appears to have offended you....I didn't see or read that post in its entirety but I don't believe from reading what you posted that she meant it to be self-righteous or offensive to others. I believe it was her way of thanking God or her lucky stars that she hasn't had to go through something as brutal as that. I bet if you think about, there are situations (major illnesses, tragedies, family situations) that you are thankful not to have to ever struggle with either.
Congratulations on your sobriety!!!!!!!!!

I stand with your SHAL. I don't give a drunk a drink either, my funds go to those who feed them and hopefully they wake up.

This makes me want to post MORE with you. People who recognize and deal with their issues are awesome people. We all have issues BTW!

I'm not sure why you would think people wouldn't want to post with you if they knew you were a former alcoholic. But let me assure you that isn't true. Most of us either know, or know of, someone battling addiction. Every battle won is a victory for everyone. Congratulations on your success.
