I so agree with what you said!
Sylvia - do stay strong and thanks for sharing your story.

Hello Sylviahomeatlast ~ I have never posted with you before and you sharing your story would not deter me from doing so now. Congratulations! I found your story to be very inspirational.

Why didn't you address Kalypso on the thread where she said it? You are taking what she said completely out of context.
She replied to me when I asked her whether she had ever been to an AA meeting. She replied that way because she was thankful that she never had to go herself or accompany anyone. I replied to her that I had gone to an open meeting with my friend....it was in reference to the term "God" and how God can be anything not necessarily religious. It was a pleasant exchange and she most definitely meant no harm to people who love an alcoholic or suffer from the disease themselves.
I hope this clears it up for you, Sylvia. You have shared before about your journey with alcoholism and mental illness. I have read posts from you before about it. I consider you a very strong woman and it is heroic for you to once again share your story.
Anyone who wouldn't want to post with you because of your illnesses wouldn't be anyone worth posting with in the first place.....or at least that is my opinion.
Thankfully, I hope you will feel better about that exchange last night and I wish you the best of luck.

I am glad you received the treatment you needed and are in recovery..

Kalypso can speak for herself.

as I said on the other post..My father and step mother are 40 years into recovery..and are very active and prominent in the program.
They said often your "god" can be whatever you want it to be..not necessary "god" as the rest see it..your higher power can be a tree stump for all they care..their common goal is to be supportive, and help others in their journey into recovery...they are always recovering..no matter what..
One day at a time..
