Michael Chiarello’s Death

[ Edited ]

This has both surprised and saddened me.  Used to watch him in the early days of Food Network.  He seemed such a gentleman and innovated chef.

He was close friends with Leslie Blodgett of Bare Minerals.  The opening of his show always had a scene with Leslie seated at a table with a group of others.

Peace be with his family.

ETA:  From what I've read, he died of an allergic to to something.  He was only 61.

Re: Michael Chiarello’s Death

I searched his story a bit and the allegations are bad- according to the internet (if true). There was some nastiness and serious harassment going on at his restaurant-  I guess that's why he kind of disappeared!

Re: Michael Chiarello’s Death

I purchased many wonderful kitchen, bakeware and vintage items from his NapaStyle mail order business which I use daily.   I was sorry to see him close that operation.

(The harassment lawsuit was settled out-of-court in 2017.)

Re: Michael Chiarello’s Death

This is so sad. I used to watch him on the early days of Food Network and before that when he was on PBS or some channel like that. I wonder what he was allergic to. I never even knew about the serial harassment scandal....that's unfortunate.

He had the brick and mortar Napa Style store as part of his Bottega restaurant.  It was a foodie's dream you would have loved it. Friends live about a mile away so we'd go often.

Re: Michael Chiarello’s Death

This morning I watched indepth profiles on ABC, CBS and NBC, but none mentioned specifically what caused the fatal allergic reaction.

I guess his family chose not to release details, but it's very curious.

My father died of an immediate fatal reaction to chemo therapy. The shock of his death was awful. I am saddened and curious about Michael Chiarello's death. I liked him too.
