My guilty pleasure is getting a pedicure.  It's not only for the relaxation but the nails on my feet tend to curve inward and I get ingrown nails pretty easily.  The ladies at the nail salon are able to cut them straight across and it really prevents those painful ingrown nails.  I don't get manicures though.  I do my own fingernails.

Last night while I was having a pedi, the lady who was doing them said you should have your husband come in and get a pedi.  I just laughed and said he wouldn't feel comfortable doing that.

So today I was just thinking how many of your husbands or SO's would go into a nail salon for a pedi?  I occasionally see men there but not too often.

My brother, age 49, loves getting pedicures & doesn't feel like his masculinity is in question.  Got a great sis in law who's been a good influence on him. Woman LOL

My husband wouldn't do it because he's cheap.  LOL.

I'm like you and get pedis only.

I do my own fingernails, actually mine are rarely painted.

I get pedicures without the polish in the harsher months, but I love the way my nails look and no rough spots, either.

One reason men may not want to get pedicures is because the nail salons are geared more toward women, and it's just not an enjoyable environment to hang out. It is kind of akin to a man going to a Tupperware party or a baby shower.  While men are welcome, it's not the most comfortable scene.  If you could get a pedicure at a barber shop, more men would probably get them,

I frequently see men getting pedicures.  My husband has from time to time.

A lot of my daughter's male friends get their brows shaped at the salon.  I think it's becoming very acceptable for men to get professionally groomed.

Re: Men and Pedicures.

[ Edited ]

Drives me nuts when we are having some good girl talk and a guy comes in and plops himself down for a pedicure.  Suddenly the whole converation quiets because we have a man amongst us.  Hate it.  Maybe the barber shops should start doing pedis and they can go there.

he is big on being pampered so he gets a manicure and pedicure once a month.

My SO gets both - pedicures & manicures.  He gets the clear polish too! Smiley Happy

I get neither.  I do my own.  However, I may start getting pedi.  The "unadvertise" senior rate is $5.

How much shoud I tip for that price????

My DH is a diabetic and gets his toenails clipped at the podiatrist office by the nail tech there. After she cuts them she files them nice and smooth and then rubs lotion into his feet. He loves it.

While you used to never see it, I do see the occasional guy now. As a matter of fact, the last time 3 weeks ago?) I spa pedi'd at a place that gets up there in price for the deluxe pedi (my treat to myself), sitting next to me was a man my age give or take a couple of years (mid 60s), having a not super deluxe but not basic either pedi. I wondered if he wasn't a mail carrier or had a job where he spends a lot of time on his feet. He enjoyed the hot towels & massage just like the ladies. And I thought good for him.
