Hi @Jo1313  Woman Happy

To my ever-curious self, why do you spoze yr Dad sold more Coke Syrup in Winter, vs Coke Soda at the fountain otherwise?  *scratching my head*

I'm always on the hunt for effective solutions to problems.  And have no shame in asking.  Woman Wink

PS: I would have a blast if my Dad owned such a store!  How fortunate.  Woman Happy

Coke syrup( no seltzer) helps with a sick stomach..just the syrup..Most of us had the same Dr. as kids..and the Dr. would say to the parents(everyone knew each other) "go see Mr..***** for some coke syrup".My parents would never say no or take money when it came to a sick kid..the family were customers.

As for your P. S...Yes it was great for us that Dad had a candy store..that accounts for my roundness!...Dad made us work( help out)..at one time or another I think he employed half the neighborhood...When my kids were little all they had to do was give grandma and grandpa a hug.. and they could take anything.

LOL, Yes the Vicks vapor rubbed  on the neck and chest. Than a humidifier would be placed in a chair close to the bed. That Vicks had a very strong smell.

Awww .. @Jo1313  Woman Happy

Thanks for explaining.  I wasnt aware that Cola syrup itself helped with symptoms.  Good to know!

I remember being served a large spoonful of Karo Corn Syrup for sore throat.  Mixed reaction to that solution. It was so, soo, soo thick & sweet.

And yeah, I have visions of trying out everything the Soda Fountain offered. *weg*

For starters, I remember watching the owner pour some drink syrup in a tall, faceted soda glass, then that fast, long, full blast squirt of bubbly soda from the Fountain's faucet with the tall handle.  We would think of all sorts of combos, like Strawberry Coke, or Vanilla Coke.   That looked like FUN!

Or creating a Masterpiece of a Banana Split!  or Sundae (Again, Ice Cream, my fave  Woman Very Happy  )  And playing with all the toppings, & spray cream.

And, yeah - I hear ya.  The, easy, availability of the munchies!

My mind just travels with all the impish, imaginative things I could get into.  *weg*
