My mother used the same Vick's treatments on us when we were kids too.  However, I do remember my cousin also using one of those Vick's tubes shaped like a Chapstick, that you would inhale into your nostrils when you had a cold or a stuffy nose.  She used to carry hers around in her pocket.  I believe she had seasonal allergies and it helped her.

I went online to try and get a picture of one of these used back in the day, and to my surprise they're still being made for the same use today!  Vicks Inhaler Nasal Vapor Tubes -0.5ML Tubes-6 Tubes TotalVicks Inhaler Nasal Vapor Tubes -0.5ML Tubes-6 Tubes Total

Hi @on the bay

Y'know, I never thought of that.   "Vicks VapoRub" for pain!  I use the Jet Spray "Salonpas," which might end up being more costly.  Maybe for areas I'm able to reach, I can try the Vicks VapoRub?

My Mom used to use Vicks VapoRub for colds too.  Burned the heck outta my skin, esp sensitive areas, like neck, chest.  But worked, esp breathing it in.

I seem to remember, later in life, I would dab a couple of spots of the Vicks Vapo-Rub under my nostrils, keep breathing it in. Worked for chest congestion.

Please be careful putting Vicks around, under the nose. My uncle dabbed Vicks under his nostrils at night. He ended up inhaling enough over the years that it clogged up air to one lung and he had to have surgery to remove it.

@on the bayMy Mother put it on my chest and neck then placed a warm small warm towel over it with a safety pin to secure it. She put it on my feet for the same reason, it absorbed into the skin and helped fight the cold from top to bottom.

@JoyFilled WarriorGrew up having both chest and feet treated with Vicks at the same time.  It really did help me overcome the congestion in a short amount of time. My Mom   felt by doing this the medicine would be absorbed throughout the body.

@ciao_bella   So funny.  I bought one at CVS months ago, and it seemed high priced.  I bought 12 of them on Amazon and gave most of them to family members.  Love this product!  I hadn't had one since I was a kid.  Yes, they even had the small key chain attached.  🤣🤣

Hi @ciao_bella  Woman Happy

I LOVE the idea of these keychain Vicks!  I'm going to get these, asap!  Thanks!

And Thanks for taking the time to locate the product, & post the pic.  I know this takes one's precious time to do this.  Woman Happy

Ive been concerned abt my frequent use of the very effective, but temp solution of "Mucinex Sinus-Max Nasal Spray Decongestant" or "Allegra-D."

I have increasingly developed a profound # of allergies, as I've aged, incl became allergic to cats.  I've done everything the AllergistMD said to do, *except*  the cats STAY!  And yes, my kitties continue to have beloved access to the bedroom.  But everything else prescribed was done.  heh

@JoyFilled Warrior   Another thing you might try for your allergies is Arm & Hammer Simply Saline.  My daughter has allergies and a cat allergy too, (we still have those kitties and always will like you.)  Her ENT said this can be used without any issues at all.  It's been excellent for her and she's not taking Claritin-D any longer since using this.  It can be purchased at any pharmacy, Walmart, Costco, grocery store, etc.  My daughter uses it in the morning and at night at bedtime.  Any one of these will work. She's presently using the one for Sinus and Allergy in the green bottle.    ARM & HAMMER Simply Saline Nasal Care Daily Mist 1.6oz – Instant Relief for Every Day Congestion – One 1.6oz Bottle
