Lack of information is NOT uncommon when the family requests privacy!

Love these reports by the infamous ""they said"". Wait for something official.

Ford I just don't think it is suspicious. JR's medical care, treatment, etc. is a private family matter. We aren't owed any updates, even though we'd like to hear good news.

Re the lack of info or the conflicting info floating out there: Obviously Joan Rivers is a public figure, and so we the public want to know details and prognoses. But to be brutally realistic, the answers might not even be evident yet to the medical teams. Any of us who have had family or friends involved in severe medical trauma/emergencies know the insanity that happens in even the best of hospitals. Just grabbing a doctor's attention for more than 5 minutes is a chore. Waiting for tests to be done... THEN waiting for the results...THEN waiting for the results to be EXPLAINED!! Torture!

Ford I just don't think it is suspicious. JR's medical care, treatment, etc. is a private family matter. We aren't owed any updates, even though we'd like to hear good news.

I agree with that. It's just not the usual protocol, that's all.

Which is more often than not totally ignored by the media.

I agree it's a private matter, and the only reason I posted this is because I had just been on MSN and the headline popped up. The only other comments I've posted on this matter are very short and just to express my sadness and good wishes to Joan and the family.

And, BTW, I have never participated in the hundreds of negative posts about Joan prior to this event.

They generally withdraw the sedation slowly. It can be a process.

This may not be either good or bad at this point.

The real test comes when the sedation is light enough or gone to determine if she breathes on her own and regains consciousness.

May not be telling much at this time.

This is so true. This is exactly how it goes. It took a couple of attempts before they could successfully pull all the tubes on DH 2 yrs. ago. Even after the 2nd attempt ( which was successful and he acknowledged us for the first time (we could tell he knew who we were) they had to sedate him again so he wouldn't hurt himself. So let's not give up hope. I didn't find out until much later that his chances were only 4 in 100. I'm glad I didn't know those numbers early on. There needs to be hope until one knows otherwise.

I'm holding out hope. But realistically, I'm sure Joan and Melissa discussed this sort of situation and Melissa is prepared to make whatever decisions need to be made
