I suppose if I had an issue with that particular doctor I could have requested someone else but honestly I had no idea until reading this thread that some do crossword puzzles while working and are just not as fastidious sometimes as a CRNA. Also, I had never heard of a CRNA until this thread....it's not like these things are explained to you during a consultation. Perhaps this information will come in handy one day but I also think that requesting a CRNA instead of a physician who is trained in anesthesiology could lead to a problem if the surgeon objects or questions it or even asks me why I would think that CRNA's are better....uh, well I read it on a shopping message board. That would be rather embarrassing.
Found, I also read on line that CRNA can be very good but some may think they are more qualified then they actually are and can become more confident then their abilities. I am not stating that there are not very qualified CRNA's but it is something we should have the knowledge of before having surgery.

My husband was put on life support do to having Internal bleeding for over a week...
He was 75 at that time.... All is internal organs were failing and Dr's did not give much hope of him surviving... He had many blood transfusions
I was so devastating with all that happening..
Am happy to say that Miracles do happen.... He is alive and considering doing well..
My Husband has been through many other health issues over the years... He is really my inspiration for believing that Miracles do happen...
My thoughts, Prayers continue for Joan, and family.

Is it when they are already on the table? Is it when the surgery is scheduled?
I have, sadly, had quite a lot of surgery - that was never an option that has been offered to me.
I have had a couple of procedures (cardiac caths) where I had Swan Ganz catheters inserted by the Cardiologist who performed the caths. There was a nurse and two techs in the lab always. I was also never given an option as to who I wanted to insert the catheter.
This certainly is news to me.
Oh, I also had cataract surgery last week and am having another one next Monday. I will ask the Anesthesiologist if I have a choice. That should score points with him, right????

When I was a kid I had a surgery and when I woke up in the recovery room it was the anesthesiologist who was at my side and he was smiling sweetly...didn't say anything.....just smiled and I just never forgot it and I suppose it made me feel safe. Funny how some things stay with you.

Melissa just posted on FB under Joans name that Joan has been moved out of ICU and into a private room and is resting comfortably. No other info was given. (this according to a friend of mine who has Joan on her facebook page).

Doesn't sound good to me. She didn't say ""resting comfortably"". This is the quote:
""My mother has been moved out of intensive care and into a private room where she is being kept comfortable. Thank you for your continued support.""
It could be because they've taken her off life support and are waiting for the end.

I remember waking up from anesthesia and he cracked a joke. He said I was talking a lot and promised what I said will never be repeated by anyone in the room. lol
