"Joan Rivers has been moved out of intensive care -- but that does not necessarily mean her health has improved greatly.

Melissa Rivers just released a very guarded update about her mother, saying ... "My mother has been moved out of intensive care and into a private room where she is being kept comfortable."

It's not a great sign that she's been moved to a private room from intensive care -- where she would be more closely monitored by doctors and nurses.

As TMZ first reported ... Joan has been on life support since being rushed to Mount Sinai hospital in NYC last Thursday.

We don't know if she's still on life support."

I hope she pulls through but it isn't looking good right now.

I too was listening to FOX, and they came on and said basically that Joan was moved out of ICU.....did not say that she has been taken off of life support, or if that she was brought out of the coma...... and that Melissa thanked everyone for their thoughts and prayers.

Now, I have not heard if she is breathing on her own.

It is being described as a ""cryptic"" comment so those of us with medical experience are a bit wary of what it might mean. I sure hope I'm wrong.

More than likely it was done for privacy.

I would agree it is likely to be a privacy issue as opposed to an improving medical condition.

The fact that nothing has been said about her medical status is telling.

They moved my dad out of ICU after he was removed from life support. He was kept comfortable by Hospice until his body shut down a week later.

This is just my experience.
