Ford, I was saddened to hear about her botched surgery last week. It must have been very difficult for Melissa to make the decision to move Joan from CCU/ICU to a private room. When I heard that, I knew the "handwriting was on the wall" and that Joan would pass quickly and peacefully. She is now with her beloved Husband and I'm sure Melissa will be able to take comfort with that fact.

The Robin Williams' tributes, recently by the Celebs, were wonderful in the wake of his tragic death, and I predict the tributes for Joan will be equally as plentiful, as people will remember the "good" Joan (of yesteryear) as opposed to the tasteless "jokes" she has told (and not apologized for) in recent years. Personally, I prefer to remember her for who she was instead of what she had become in her Golden Years.

That's right....although the jokes of yesteryear were pretty bad too.

As I have mentioned in other threads, I am overdue for my bi-annual endoscopy by about six months. That happened because I had the back surgery last August (a year ago). I've never had a problem with them, always did fine. But I must say I'm a little nervous now. I've had six to eight endoscopies over the years, maybe more, I thought so little of it I really can't remember now. Now my age concerns me.

Is your endoscopy done at a hospital, Ford? Or very close to one?

It's an endoscopy center similar to the one Joan went to. They are a large group of gastroenterologists. They built this center while I was still working at their CPA's office and I knew several of them quite well. My doctor was a client of the firm long before I became his patient, and we had a good relationship prior to my first endoscopy. Of course I used him. They used to be right next to the hospital, but the hospital moved a couple of miles away just a few years ago. He and his group work out of the new one now, but still do their endoscopies at the center that was built about 15-20 years ago.

Until Joan's death, I never thought twice about having an endoscopy there and, as I said, I am overdue for one. However, I am only five years younger than Joan was and I now have a lot of trepidation. I guess I will make an appointment and have a consultation with him. I would imagine a lot of his older patients are doing this. He has a calming way, was always my friend/doctor, and I trust his expertise. However, this has thrown me, mostly because of my age, not that I think they would make any mistakes.
