I doubt it,  I iked Joan, but you and I both know, that just because a celebrity bring out a line of ANYTHING< doesn't mean that they wear it OR would buy it for themselves,   NOT KNOCKING JOAN,  She was a very classy ladies and IMO some of her pieces were quite tacky,,JMO,,,AGAIN NOT KNOCKING JOAN

More often than not, Joan wore her own jewelry on Fashion Police and wore her jewelry and clothing on her tv show.  She also wore her own stuff when she appeared on other talk shows, etc.

From her book: "When my mother and I turned the award show red carpet into the RED CARPET in 1995, we had no idea we were creating a brand that would become as Americana as apple pie, ice cream, and Kim Kardashian's a**.  If we had, we'd have been sittin' pretty instead of hawking tchotchkes on QVC."

Adding:  That quote is directly from her book, but the reason I said I read it in an article is because the article I read took that quote directly from her book.  I googled the quote, and found it in her book, and then typed it here.

I'll read the book.  I've been meaning to for a while, so now I'll make a point of it.  And I still think that it's meant in a humorous way, the same as her mother would've said - self-deprecating humor.

I think it's something that's being taken the wrong way.  For heaven's sake, I'm sure she's still reeling from the aftermath of the death of her mother.  I know she's been on several shows saying that writing the book was meant to be a humorous look at her mother's life and legacy and that writing it was cathartic for her.  I'd be the last person to pick on one single sentence in an entire book.

Joan making a comment like that is different than Melissa making a comment like that.  IMO Melissa is still in sour grapes mode over never being very well received on the Q.

And I don't think it was a wise decision to make a comment like that, whatever the tone, knowing a lot of the people who buy the book would be QVC/Joan Rivers devotees.  (And although I enjoy them both, I am neither a QVC nor Joan Rivers devotee.)

I'm not condemning anyone, I just think the comment was stupid and off-putting.

Re: Melissa Rivers A Good Daughter

The fact that many of JR's QVC pieces were copies of her own jewelry, would make it more difficult to tell if she were wearing a copy or the real thing.  Many ladies with expensive pieces of jewelry, lock them away and have copies made.  Who knows, JR could have done this and thought the copies looked so good she decided to go into the fashion jewelry business.

To those interested in Melissa's book:  Go to Amazon and type in "The Book of Joan".  When it comes up, click on the HARD copy edition (not the Kindle).  Then you can "read inside this book".  There are many, many pages to read.  You almost don't have to buy the book.  After reading all that, I really don't know what else is left to read.  It is very, very good - funny too.  The HARD copy edition has many more pages than the Kindle.  I don't know why....  Lots of pictures too.

It's the exact same book.  Kindle pages are just divided and numbered differently than hard copies.  It's always that way.

When buying the book, it's the same - but the online reading portion is not the same.  The "Kindle" edition inside the book, ends with the "Fly me to the Moon" chapter and there are no pictures at all.

The "Hard Copy" edition that you click on, ends with the "Gift of the Grab" chapter and there are a zillion pictures.  Much, much more to read.

I d/l books to my Kindle all the time and understand that there is no difference.  But, there is a very big difference  when reading "inside this book" online.
