Am I the only one that gets a little bit jealous when I hear that someone wins the big bucks? I'm happy for them and know that it will change their life- but why can't it be me?

You only get the FULL amount if you elect to get the 30 year annuity.  You will get an annual payment.

If you elect to get all of it right away, you will get a little more than 1/2 BEFORE taxes are taken out.

@Mz iMac Yes, I am aware of that. It has been this way for many years. Ive heard most people prefer the lump sum and not yearly installments.

My husband and I will laugh though. When people in California win $1 million and say they are millionaires, we say, nope, you only have about $500,00.

the Jackpots get so high $$$ because Megamillions changed a few years ago and spread the Mega Ball selection to choice of numbers 1 through 25. 

before then it was a choice of numbers 1 through 15. plus they upped the ticket price to $2 .  so it's harder to win now.   

this time there are 13 winners who hit Match 5 and got 1M and one of them got 2M due to the megaplier.   then there are a bunch of even smaller prizes.

My Lottery Dream Home is so fun to watch.
