@Citrine1  As an ex  New Yorker, I am amazed by it. To my son and granddaughter it is no big deal!

Re: Meanwhile Down in Florida...

i never totally get over an initial "fright response" when I first see a snake.  Living in the more rural part of upstate SC, critters are a part of my life.  It's funny that spiders are all around, including black widows, and that doesn't bother me.  Frogs, toads and small lizards don't startle me.  But seeing even a non-venomous snake gives me a startle.   Then I calm down and either move on or move it on.  I was really close to huge gators in the Charleston area, and those didn't frighten me, but I sure respect their personal space.

If my dog doesn't like you, neither do I.

I'm amazed by it as well!  Thanks for the additional pictures.  I LOVE turtles.  Looks like that one found his way into someone's pool.  Haha

Those alligators are fast, lunging movers, too.

I don't recall their MPH, but it's significantly high-ish for a water based animal.

'More or less', 'Right or wrong', 'In general', and 'Just thinking out loud ' (as usual).

@Kachina624  I keep telling people not to start feeding the alligators because this is the result!

I currently live in central Florida. We were here about 3 years before I ever saw an alligator. Finally spotted one in the lake by our town. I don’t think they travel too far from their body of water.

@Puppy Lips  I've lived here since the mid 80s, surrounded by lakes and I rarely see an alligator. I know they are there, they know we are here but they really a don't come looking for trouble.

And they were here first.

@Jk9

Okay, stupid question. In SC are there a lot of snakes and critters? Or does it depend upon where you live. I am terrified of snakes. I ask because I am thinking about my retirement in several years. My niece mention SC the other day, as a possible place that she wants to move to and I might move to the state that she settles in.
