Re: Meanwhile Down in Florida...

[ Edited ]

@Citrine1  Yes. That is a green iguana. Not a pet for me!

@LindaSal  The alligators are everywhere at Everglades Natural Park. I took my classes on many fields trips there. We once counted over 70 alligators on the side of the ride as we rode the tram in. One time two alligators were sunning themselves on the entry path. The rangers asked us if we wanted to slowly and quietly try to walk past them or come back another day. Well, we weren't going back to school! Highly recommend. You can rent a bike and go on the trail if you dare.

Also, one time the ranger pointed out a rarely seen crocodile!! Florida has both. Lucky us.

Not for me.

I've seen on news where they have ate children and small dogs.

They're quiet reptiles.

Too many minuses for me .

IMO, what's even scarier is when they actually enter through the home's doggie door!

Or get stuck in it when they're halfway in!

Florida is getting more crowded by the day. So if seeing reptiles keeps some of you scardy cat people away, I say GOOD!

Re: Meanwhile Down in Florida...

@Zaimee   I'm curious.  If you were to go out back (without looking first) and realized either the iguana or spiny black lizard were out there, would they just run the other way or stay there and do nothing?  Surely, they wouldn't come towards you, would they?

I suppose you must have many other lizards and various critters you need to look out for as well.  And, also, is this an every day occurance?

I'd rather live in Colorado!! No big lizards, big bugs or high humidity either.

Re: Meanwhile Down in Florida...

I'd rather have the gator than the snakes we have here in SC. I have many great pictues of the gators and I'm only a few feet away. They really just want to get from the one pond to the other side. Unless you start harassing them, they don't want to be bothered.
