I am so sorry that this has happened ,no matter where,i agree it makes me sick to see that people still want every one to be able to have a gun.

When something like this hits so close to home, it is like a punch in the gut.

@AspenGrove, I have no direct connection to any mass murders, but I am also sickened.

@Lali1   Surely you know that if a CRIMINAL wants a weapon, no matter the type HE/SHE WILL FIND ONE....passing laws to prevent law abiding citzens from owning a firearm makes no sense.  That will result in just criminals having weapons...how much sense does that make?  Does that make you feel safer?

@tansy I don't think I'm going to knock on her door late at night to find out.

As a child I lived with my Gram. Our house was broken into late one night. I will never forget the sound of my dog growling at the foot of my bed. I woke to hear footsteps coming up the steps.

The dog chased the intruder out of the house. Looking back, tho we had no valuables, we sure did look vulnerable.

That experience stayed with me. I carry and lately, I carry heavy.

Bottom line is, we all have our own opinions on this issue, myself included, but we can discuss this until the cows come home, but we are so entrenched in what we believe, that no matter what we say, we won't change anybody's mind.

Re: Mass Shooting in Boulder

@Shanus

Many people that like to use the term "assault weapon" generally when talking about an AR 15. Why? Because they hear it, AR 15 repeated over and over on or in the media. Many wouldn't know one rifle from another, yet use the term "assault weapon" as if they grew up using one.

I know many that own an AR 15 and don't remember a single one saying they are going to the shooting range with their "assault weapon/rifle", rather AR 15.

This rifle is designed just like most hand guns, which is semi-automatic. You pull the trigger once, 1 shot is fired. The AR 15, as purchased is exactly the same.

"A mass shooting weapon"? Maybe for nut cases and/or criminals. Once again the gun has no control over the human handling it. And and an AR 15 is not a Military Weapon and the M16 is a Military Weapon.

Another day, another mass killing in the US.

I thought after Sandy Hook we would attempt to work together to try to eliminate as many issues as possible to avoid more killings.  Sadly, that was not the case.

Of course there is mental illness in this country, just as there is in every other country in the world and, yet, the US always leads in mass shootings.

WHY?

And along with mental illness, we have a lot of sheer hate, seems like in this country. Its scary.

Any of us could be in an unfortunate place, the next time there is one of these shootings. In my opinion, these shootings are being carried out in more places that are the norm. I have never been in a night club, but I was in a Wal Mart just yesterday.

What are we suppose to do, if we are in a store and someone starts shooting? Do we run, do we hide, or just what are we suppose to do?

@happycat

All I can tell you is my co-workers and I do yearly training on mass shooting incidents. It's called Run, Hide, Fight.

The first thing you do is Run out of the building.

If you can't get out, you Hide.

Hide in a room, turn off lights and cell phones, and barricade the door, and be as quiet as possible.

If you can't hide, then you Fight. Use whatever you can as a weapon against the shooter. Throw things at the shooter.

Keep aware of your surrounding .

Absolutely right. I driving thru the wal mart parking lot a while back, and there was a man there taking pictures outside of the building where I pick up my groceries. He had stopped his car, was still in the car and it looked like he was taking pictures to the cameras on top of the building.

He was driving car with out of state plates. I knew I might look like a nut, but I watched him park. I went took a pic of his lic. plate, and I called the police.

Very well could have been innocent, but I'd rather look like a nut at this point than take a chance.
