@suzyQ3 Hey, sorry to bother you, but I wanted to ask which mask you bought on Etsy? Do you have a link? I'd like to order one from a place that is reputable ya know? Plus, there are SO many options on Etsy I don't even know where to begin :-(
I DO know they are recommending if it's a homemade mask it be 3 layers of cotton. Unless that has changed by now lol...things seem to change overnight.
I really appreciate your input. Thank you and please stay safe.

I thought the number for deaths in Italy was the highest earlier this week. But what does it matter? Dead is dead. Does it matter who has the highest number of deaths? Is it a contest?

We use the numbers as the basis for our own forecasting and models. We have been closely following what is happening in Italy.

i believe this is not only a step to help stop the spread but also a move to acclimate us to a practice which will be expected of us when we begin our return to normalcy - masks and social distancing will remain for a time.

I wore a mask for months after 9/11 just because of the acrid air despite Christine Todd Whitman (former NJ Gov. and then EPA Admin) repeating over and over "The air is safe." Some people looked at me like I was nuts. The way I saw it is if the air smells that bad it must be bad for you. Each person has to use their own common sense and good judgment in addition to listening to the authorities. Same thing here. IMO there will be a significant period of time after the "all clear" signal that the virus can be spread again for a second round. Hopefully people will understand they cannot go right back to the way things were before, not be lax at that time and continue to take precautions.

@Bibione When the virus was in Italy but not here several months ago I searched everywhere in a 30 mile radius of my home for masks. There were none. People obviously hoarded.
I checked online and begged my son to order some (not N95) he ignored it. They were price gouging then.
I only have several garden masks from the $1. Store they don't have more. Yesterday I had to get food, people were at the senior hour in masks. I could smell lilies through mine, probably won't work for virus.
Scarves are hard to work, slipand won't protect, or prevent much spread.
I have old quilted placemats. I might try to make some from them with ribbon ties. Just to fulfill the requirement.

@golding76, I did not mean to put China in my post regarding population. I meant to put Spain.
I don't for one minute believe any numbers coming out of China with regard to this. I'm not going to be convinced that they had under 82,000 confirmed cases. I wonder what their criteria was for "confirmed."
I don't believe we are ever going to have accurate numbers on cases, deaths or recoveries from this.

Went to Costco yesterday..I asked pharmacist if they had masks. She said they sold out long time ago and can't get them in. They had plenty of Charmin though. Yay!

Until those on the front lines have the masks they need, I will not go out trying to find surgical masks or N95 masks. That is why some healthcare experts are upset with this newer recommendation about masks. Those who really need them already can't get them.

Hi, @BrandiDavis, I don't think that I can link to the seller on Etsy for fear of breaching the rules here. But I'll give you her name and you should be able to find her store: "ReusableMasks." I should include the info that they are triple-layered cotton.
Keep in mind that I have not received mine yet, so I can't review it for you.
