Re: Mary Beth Presentation Peter Thomas Roth

If I specifically asked for it or if a close friend knew I used the products, I'd love it. I don't use PTR because he's not cruelty free and there are better options.

If someone randomly gave me skincare, and they weren't selling Amway or something, I'd still probably appreciate it but I'd consider it a wee bit tactless of them. I also might wonder if they had won the set or received it in a swag bag something like that.

Mary Beth is on right now presenting Peter Thomas Roth.  In her presentation of his 5 piece classic set she tells us  if you have someone's birthday or anniversary coming up this would be a great gift. Seriously? I'm going to get someone who is another year older a PTR anti aging set. Yeah, that will make her feel better about being another year older.  And an anniversary gift. Are you kidding. Who would want this as an anniversary gift. I wouldn't . The things they will say to sell an item.

@joann1218   Well hopefully you will not receive this set as a gift.

If a person finds this offensive, do not purchase.

Re: Mary Beth Presentation Peter Thomas Roth

@joann1218   A few years ago for part of a christmas gift I bought my sister some prai neck cream - it was in such a sparkly beautiful jar I thought she'd love it as she's an appreciator of sparkle.  Also, personally I think it's a good neck cream.   Never occurred to me that the gift could skew negative - but it did!  She did love the jar, but was upset because she thought I was giving her a "hint".  lol.  She is older than me and I am so surprised that she never used a neck cream before. Even so, it was not a hint of any kind! Anyway, based on that I can see someone not appreciating an anti-aging skin care kit!  I'd love it tho - one thing I wouldn't really take personally.  I love trying new products.  If there was something I didn't think my skin would like, I'd probably just ebay it.

I would only buy this as a gift if I knew the person used the product. Skincare to me is a personal thing. It is like a fragrance. I will only buy a perfume as a gift if I know a person likes the fragrance.

@joann1218    I would love it as a gift.  And if anyone doesn't know that they are a year older when they have a birthday, then they've got more problems than their age.

@Luvsmyfam

Sorry, IMHO, it IS absolutely nit picking.

We are picking apart every word, phase, meaning, dialect and pronunciation the hosts use.

This IS the definition of nit picking:

to be excessively concerned with or critical of inconsequential details. verb

to criticize by focusing on inconsequential details.

That is EXACTLY what these threads do.....

and yes, the OP is certainly entitiled to nit pick all she wants....I AM saying...I do NOT.

Re: Mary Beth Presentation Peter Thomas Roth

You are right. All I can say is the hosts on both HSN and QVC have gotten very sales oriented in the last few years. Very much gushing and pushing people to purchase two. It is hard to watch. Same words used to describe the item, amazing, this is everything, soft, wonderful, I LOVE IT are some of the words that now annoy me. But this is their job to sell. This is their job to love the product on TV while selling. I tend to watch now only in commercial breaks of other shows.

My pet peave, my nitpicking is how they don't show the back ends of the clothing. Maybe some twirling slightly around to the side or maybe one fast turn around while wearing a top that covers the rear. HSN is much worse about the too tight clothing and overly gushing to sell. It feels to me like these two shopping chanels are needing to increase business. Hearing in the news how Target has had reduced sales and is removing a lot of the home goods which isn't selling well. Sign of the times, and the economy.

Detachment isn't the absence of love but the ability to take care of yourself in the midst of someone else's choices.

@Porcelain I completely agree about PTR not being cruelty free so therefore not purchasing his product line.  Yes, there are better options.

That being said, I laughed out loud when I read the rest of your post.  Priceless.......really. Woman LOL

If PTR products are so effective, MBR, JT and Carolyn should have incredible results. They dont. Signs of aging very evident and normal. No magic potions exist.
