Martha Stewart 2023: Dominican Republic

Martha Stewart was photographed by Ruven Afanador in the Dominican Republic.

Ruven Afanador also took photos of the businesswoman and TV personality in the 1990s for her magazine. That history helped her feel comfortable working with the "magnificent" photographer again on this project, Martha stated.

Pretty amazing. Back when Johnny Carson was on, he'd base his whole monologue on a senior citizen appearing on the SI swimsuit cover.

Used to love watching Martha's show (was it on PBS?) long before her network show.

She would slog through cow pies in the rain, dressed in menswear--proudly!

Her calendar in the mag was so interesing.

May 15:  Plant sweat peas

May 16:  Castrate bulls

Fascinated that she modeled when she was younger and looked so pretty in tweed suits and pumps.

I was shocked to learn of her divorce years before and the court order she wasn't even allowed to speak to her husband.  !!!

There are candid untouched photos (circa 2004) of her on a vacay in the Bahamas right before she went off to prison.  She's wearing a one piece black bathing suit.  Looks like the Martha I knew.

So I find it interesting that the past 10 years or so, she has posted *glamour shot* selfies and agreed to published professional photos of her in a *sex kitten* role.  

I guess she realizes that she would be remembered as the perfect hostest, but not with the mostest and wants to go out with a bang.

Nothing wrong with that.

But with photo shop, filters, body makeup, and support wear, it's kind of like that vs. real life.

It reminds of a funny scene in a movie (Animal House, maybe?) where the guy finally gets the girl in bed, she takes off her bra and the tissues pop straight out.  Either he faints or she faints (from embarrassment), I can't remember because I LMAO.

She looks beautiful.  Who would have thought an 81-year-old (82 in three months) would be the cover model for SI's swimsuit issue.  Impressive!  I hope she continues to grace the QVC audience with her lovely presence.
