This whole Mars landing thing is so fascinating to me.  Even tho, any samples they dig up won't be back on Earth for another 10 years.   Doubt that I'll live to see the results.  But fascinating, nonetheless.

Of course there's other life out there!  With all the gazillions of planets in the whole universe, there's all sorts of life on many of them.  We here aren't advanced enough to find it.... yet.

My DH is a biologist. I asked him, if they found remnants of CELLULAR life on Mars, would the researchers wet their pants?

He said, Yes.

There still might be planets with dinosaurs, giant lions and tigers, etc. roaming around.

Just like it used to be here on our earth.

Why not?

Re: Mars landing...Life??

[ Edited ]

If life exists anywhere else I don't think it will be anything like human life. I'm guessing that organisms will adapt to their habitats over time, if evolutionary principles hold true throughout the universe; but this is no more than a guess at this point. I subscribe to the idea of panspermia too, but this too is just a guess.

It's been pointed out -- not by me but people who know a lot about this kind of thing -- that the human body is a pretty nifty thing. We have our brains right on top and enclosed in a protective shell--our heads. We also have our most important sensory organs--eyes, ears, nose--on top, along with our flexible jaws which protect our teeth.

Traveling downward, we have most of our really important organs enclosed and protected by out ribcage.

Our arms and legs are positioned just right for holding us up an keeping us centered so we won't fall over.

So it wouldn't surprise me at all if life from other worlds look somewhat like us. Of course a lot depends on the chemistry of their worlds, their atmospheres, gravity, etc. I would love to live long enough to find out but I probably won't...darn it!

UFO? Cruise missile? An American Airlines pilot was baffled by what he saw over New Mexico

“Do you have any targets up here?” asked the pilot, according to a recording on Deep Black Horizon, which describes itself as an “aviation-space-military-intelligence news blog. “We just had something go right over the top of us.

“I hate to say this but it looked like a long cylindrical object that almost looked like a cruise missile type of thing — moving really fast right over the top of us.”

American Airlines confirmed the recording and referred further questions to the FBI.

I think this just happened yesterday.

I believe there is life throughout the universe and I believe we have had other worldly visitors - not only in ancient civilizations but very possible in our time.

There is too much in the universe yet to be explored and while some think we may be arrogant to believe I submit it can be just as arrogant not to believe.

The word "arrogant" really needs to be excluded in this conversation.

I find the study of ancient civilizations fascinating and it was actually my first choice of major in college but I ended up going in a different direction.

No matter what one believes, studying the mysteries of the universe, including signs and symbols here on our planet, opens up the mind to think about things beyond our little world.

One doesn't have to believe but I find it challenging to dismiss the proof in some instances that we have, indeed, been visited by other intelligent life.
