Re: Mandatory / Voluntary Testing

The Cenus is coming up and supposedly manitory and look how difficult it is to contact every US citizen in every community! I don't ever see a manitory rule working. People would start rumours about that like getting tested will give you the virus or those getting tested have it.

I was young when we went in for our Polio sugar cube. I recall going in to a school and a nurse handing us the little white cup. They can't even get everyone to get a flu shot. It will be awhile before a  vaccine  is ready but like a flu shot help lessen the outbreak and the severity of the Virus.

Re: Mandatory / Voluntary Testing

Stuff like this really brings out the ugly in people.

Bring everyon e in contact with each other would definitely make any situation worse.

It would be an extreme waste of money and medical effort.

Let me throw this hypothesis out there.

Say local, state, or federal made a statement where they wanted to test every person in the county, state, country.

Whether it was voluntary or mandatory, would you comply?

Discuss.

And let the discussion begin with you!   LOL

Why would anyone test someone with no symptoms? It's not cost-effective by any means.

I think they would test those who have traveled to certain places, perhaps their families, people in nursing homes and elderly housing.  There are people who have the virus but never exhibit any symptoms, they don't get sick but they can pass it along.

Re: Mandatory / Voluntary Testing

Didn't you say in another thread you think all this is getting overblown or people are panicking for no reason......something along those lines?

I guess I don't understand starting more threads about this if that is the way you feel.  I think people are worried enough and there is enough false information out there to start "what ifs."

Re: Mandatory / Voluntary Testing

I think it should be mandatory if the authorities in your state think it is necessary because you've been in contact with someone with the virus.

SIngapore has managed to contain the virus really well because they jumped on it immediately and tracked the contagion thoroughly. Of course, that's an authoritarian regime there that controls the media and can track pretty much everyone who lives there. At least all that control was used for good this once.

When you’re accustomed to privilege, equality feels like oppression.
