Up date....after all that traveling now my package that's sitting in Seattle a few blocks from my friends house (and has been for 4 days) is scheduled to be delivered on 1/13 (maybe). It takes 5 days to deliver a small package a few blocks away in the same city? Crazy.

Where I live, mail delivery is there around 10:00PM at night.  But we don't get mail everyday.  We get it on average every other day.  Sometimes....on Friday we don't get mail then and on Saturday.  Come that Monday, our mailbox is filled to the brim.

I don't know if you are aware, but several years ago the post office floated the idea they would deliver mail twice a week.  One half would get mail several days in a row, then the half would get mail.  Packages would contine as before.  I dropped that in a hurry!

@Diamonds22-- I agree.  A few years back, someone was stealing mail out of the curbside mailboxes in our subdivision.  Stupidly, we put our income tax forms in our mailbox for the mailman to pick up.  In our defense, we were not aware of the thefts yet.  The mailbox thief was eventually arrested.

Anyway, our identities were 'stolen' and it was over a year before our accounts were back to normal.  Or almost normal.  Someone on the west coast tried to open a huge mortgage using my personal information, as just one example.  People in all parts of the country, and one in England, purchased expensive items and opened credit cards with all my personal information.  It was a mess!

Ever since then, we post all our outgoing mail at the post office.

@tototwo  That sounds just horrible and glad they at least were able to find out who was stealing. It saddens me how shoddy mail service and the attitude has become.

I had a mailbox stolen as did  some others in my area. One credit card bill not sent. Nothing like your situation to deal with! Kids looking for money, I guess.  When I called the PO all they asked was when are you going to have a NEW box up? I thought isn't this a Federal Offense?

Re: Mail delivery

[ Edited ]

Well, I see I have plenty of company as far as issues with deliveries. I returned a Christmas gift I bought for someone back on Dec. 14. The last info I have on tracking is that it left the Columbus distribution center on Dec. 24--nothing since then. Fortunately QVC refunded my money anyway.

Then there was the problem with my sister's medicine. Called the pharmacy and they sent another shipment via express mail (or whatever faster service they used) to be sure her pills got here before she ran out. Well, both shipments arrived just days apart. Trouble was it took about a month and she had run out.

I'm also waiting for a package from QVC which was supposed to be here around 1/8--still not here. (Tracking info on this package also is non-existent since reaching the same Columbus facility.) Am hoping, though, that it will make it, especially since they are now out of my color choice.

And, finally, two more issues. The first one really speaks poorly of the postal service. On Dec. 30, I received my gas bill which was due back on Sept. 7. Fortunately I was aware that I hadn't received it at the time and paid it on time. The second issue, which is causing me some concern, is the non-arrival of mine and my sister's SS tax info forms. The USPS's "informed delivery" shows that they should have been delivered on 1/6. I'm worried about this because if they were delivered elsewhere, that means someone has our names, addresses, and worst of all, our SS numbers. Thanks a lot USPS.
