For about 5 years, we had a housekeeper who worked through an agency.  It was good because when she was ill or on vacation, they sent someone else.  It was once a  week and she cleaned the kitchen and bathrooms, vacuumed, dusted etc.  No heavy cleaning.  I had another agency do a big thorough cleaning every 4 months.  The weekly cleaning was a little expensive so I hired a lady who worked for herself.  You should have a contract that stipulates duties, time, pay and hold them to the contract.  I didn't tip weekly because I gave the last one a week's pay for her birthday and for Christmas.   My nephew and his wife are with us now so she does the cooking and cleaning.  When do move out, I'll hire another weekly housekeeper.

@Melzie  For the record, the ONLY time I tip my cleaning crew is Christmas (very generous) even if I have them do something not mentioned in the contract.  Have done that for over 20+ yrs.

Ah!  That makes sense.  Thanks for the reply. :smileyhappy:
